New Jersey Cross Country 19999/11 CBA Debuts Impressivelyby Ed Grant
Netters:
Christian Brothers Academy of Lincroft (NJ), rated third in the pre-season
Harrier poll, debuted impressively today at the St. Dominic Academy
Invitational at Lincoln park, Jersey Cit, taking the first six places (their
other runner was 5th with 200 meters to go when he went into a dizzy spell and
just about got to the line.)
The
boys averaged under 17:00 on a long (3.3M), but otherwise unchallenging
course. Coach Tom heath had hoped to head West this weekend to .face
first-ranked Mountain View of Orem, Utah, but couldn't get permission from the
state association. They will be at the Great American Cross-Country Festival
in Charlotte on Sept. 25.
Only
13 seconds separated the top five runners today with senior Brian Kerwin
leading the pack. Two regulars did not run--junior Tom Falvey, who is
recovering from being hit by a car this summer, but it in training, and soph
Jeff peterson, who has to sit out until Oct. 11 because of his transfer from
Mater Dei last January.
