CLASS 4A CHAMPIONSHIP
In the boys race the individual race came down to three runners, Matt Tegenkamp ,Lee's Summit; Jason Sandfort, West Plains; and Matt Tanner, Columbia Hickman. After coming through the mile in 4:41, Tegenkamp took off and the other two let him go. Tegenkamp smashed the course record by 15 seconds on the extremely hilly course by finishing in 15:26.67. Notable former runners that Tegenkamp bested were Chris Borsa, former Wisconsin standout in 15:41, Chris Zinn and Joe Falcon, former Arkansas All-Americans in 15:46 and 15:57. The team battle was a four team battle won by St. Louis University High.

Francis Howell pulled off a major upset as they surprised Kirkwood , West Plains, and Liberty to win the large class girls championships. Sophomore Nicole Graham of Blue Springs was also somewhat of a surprise as she was near the lead the whole way and then showed a tremendous kick on the hilly finish to easily win.
