Middletown freshman star Emily Buzzell broke on top in the sprint from the starting line and was never challenged, stretching her lead steadily throughout.  Emily said she is now pointing toward the Foot Locker Northeast regional in New York City November 27, where the top 8 girls qualify for the Foot Locker National Finals in Orlando FL December 11.  "I would rather finish last in the State Meet (Nov. 13) and qualify for nationals than win the State Meet and run badly in Foot Locker."   Nevertheless, Emily will be heavily favored to finish first at Hereford Nov. 13 as the only Maryland girl to beat her this season, Tenke Zoltani of Dulaney, is in Class 4A while Middletown is 2A.
