Wickham Invitational

from Marc Logan

Despite early morning rains, conditions at Wickham Park in Manchester,
Connecticut warmed up as Jessica Schenk of Fitch-Groton, paved the way in
the premier Championship race with the quick time of the day (15:23) for
the challenging 4000 meter course. The team competition was dominated by
New Hampshire powerhouse Manchester Central. Other strong performances were
turned in by Lisa Stubic of Crosby-Waterbury as she won the Unseeded race
in 15:29 and freshman Meghan Owen, Killingly, continued to impress with
her win in the Seeded race (15:57).

Connecticut rivals Fitch-Groton and E.O. Smith reversed their positions
from Thetford. VT. as they prepared for their showdown at the State Open
meet in November.
