Travon Walton, who will be a member of the U.S. National World Youth team next month in Poland off his performance in the Junior Olympics last year, was the first heat winner at 47.09, with Florida prep Shomari McKenzie the contest two prelim winner at 47.64.

In the Finals it was University of South Carolina frosh Curtis Pressley and McKenzie who led early, with Ohio prep Willie Davis moving up to challenge as the race entered the homestretch. Pressley won with a final burst, with Tampa prep Shomari McKenzie probably having some extra motivation with the Florida site for the Pan Am Junior Meet athletes here were qualifying on to,edging Davis for second 46.88-46.98.

The finish: 456 Pressley (right), 369 McKenzie, 145 Davis -
all under 47 seconds, only 0.16 apart
