exchange collision.

as he led throughout the boys mile in 4:11.70. Mason Ward,

Weather disrupts schedule - The day turned cold and wet, with showers and
intermittent drizzle after 10 a.m. Clouds were so dark by
3 pm that the lights were turned on, followed by thunder and
lightning and the heaviest downpour of the day. The meet
was suspended at 3:40 pm because of the lightning and it resumed
at 4:05 pm with the rain stopped and the skies brightening.
At 4:30, another heavy downpour caused a second suspension with
thunder rumbling around Franklin Field. The meet resumed
at 5:50 p.m. with plans to conclude the day's schedule except
for moving the college men's and women's sprint medleys to
Saturday morning starting at 7:30 a.m. Four important high
school events will be run under lights Friday night: Boys
DMR, Mile, and 3000, and the championship girls 4x400.
Jamaica claims 3 of top 5 seeds for boys 4x100 relay championship - Jamaica
had 3 of the 5 fastest teams in boys 4x100 qualifying heats Friday -

Another gold for Vere Tech girls in 4x100 championship final - Vere
Technical of Jamaica is harvesting a pile of gold medals in this Penn Relays and
the 4x100 championship final just added to their collection as they were a 45.44
winner, with JAM St. Jago second (45.99). Next were VA Bethel (47.08) and
MD Eleanor Roosevelt (47.17). NY Uniondale won the large school
consolation final in 47.68. A three-team photo finish in the small school
final saw JAM Meadowbrook (48.04) get the nod over MD Central (48.05) and OH
Brookhaven (48.08).
Holmwood Tech holds off Manchester Central in 9:08.1 - Holmwood
Tech of Jamaica was a wire to wire winner (9:08.01) in the girls 4x800
championship final, but not without some nervous moments as Jill Laurendeau of
NH Manchester Central ran a brilliant anchor (2:13) for the second straight day.
Holmwood anchor Kerriann White stretched the lead in her first lap, but paid for
it in the second lap. Approaching the far turn, White was wobbling and
Laurendeau was gaining with each stride. But Laurendeau ran out of ground
and crossed the finish line one stride and 0.36 second behind . TX
Mesquite (9:11.18) edged VA Thomas Jefferson (9:12.03) for third, but TJ
anchor Kelly Otstott tied Laurendeau for the race's best split.
VA T.C. Williams 7:52.42 leads 4x800 qualifiers - T.C.
