New National Pole Vault Record:
Eric Eshbach 18-2.25 !!!

There is a new National Record for the boys pole Vault. At today's Texas state meet Eric Eshbach of Orangefield Vaulted 18'2"1/4. In second was teammate Johnathan Henly with 17'3". What a Vault!!!! It was awesome.  Jeff Wood, U. of Texas

tommy olesky of nederland texas won the 4a long jump with a leap of 25-1 3/4. more remarkable was his series of jumps - 24-8 1/2, 24-6 1/4, 24-7, 24-9, 25-0 1/2 and 25-1 3/4. the 3a performers were nearly as good-nakia williams daingerfield -24-11 1/2, brandon bray dibol 24-6 1/4, justin youngblood goliad 24-3 1/4. even the 2a boys got inthe act -george sheppard alba golden 24-7 1/2,vonchess griggs van vleck 24-4 1/2. the 1a and 5a boys have yet to compete. source texas uil's website on state track results. throw in eshbach's 18-2 1/4 pv and andrew poole of alto triple jump of 50-9 1/4 and you have some serious hops from the lone star state.

Highlights of the 5a competition:
Lavada Hill (Lufkin) triple jumped 42-2 1/4 and 19-11 1/2 in the long!
Monique Hall (Houston Yates)-23.59 in the 200.
Courtney Ratcliff- Houston Willowridge 54.67 -400 meters Tiffany Wise (Houston Madison) 2:13.15 - 800 meters Brandall Lawrence of de Soto jumped 50-7 in the triple jump...
Lavar Norris (Houston Aldine) 46-43 in the 400
Reggie Harrell of Arlington Lamar 13-68 - 110 hurdles Adam Davis from Klein ran 1:50.51 in the 800.. he went out and stayed in front beating Joe Vaughn (1:51.22) Jonathan Johnson of Abilene (1:51.75 and Shelton Ervin (1:52.02).

3a competition:
One of the highlights of the entire meet was Ychlindia Spears of Luling High School. The 14 year old freshman took four first place spots: 11.71 in the 100, 23.99 in the 200m, 20-5 3/4 in the long jump, and 41-8 1/2 in the triple.
