Some state meet highlights from Tom Caffrey:

Boys 100: James Shelton, NE Lauderdale, ties former World Record Holder Calvin Smith's 100 meter state record of 10.44

Girls 1600: Anna Rose Poole, St. Andrews, breaks 1600 Overall Record (which must be run at the Sate Meet) with 5:06.39 (Class 2A) only to lose the record 20 hours later when Erin Sims (signed at Texas) responds with 5:03.24 (Class 5A).

Girls 3200: Poole's teammate Sarah Rivlin demolishes Overall State Meet record with an 11:05 for 3200 meters.

Boys 400: Ivan Gray, Madison Central, broke the overall 400 meter record with a 47.4 (AUTO!)

Boys 4x100: Meridian (5A) 41.55 (Auto!)

Boys 4x200: Amite County (3A) 1:26.52 (auto!); Madison Central (5A) 1:26.97 (auto!)

Boys Long Jump: Leon Collins 3A 24' 6.5"

Boys 200: Greg Carter (5A) Natchez 21.35 (auto!)

Girls HJ: Sabrina Norwood , Tupelo, 5' 7"

Boys 110H: DeAndre Eiland, Tupelo, 14.05 (110 Hurdles) (ran 13.49 at Meet of Champs, Mobile AL in April)
