Just How Close was the Calif HS Girls Team Race?
Here are the girls 100 meter times:
3rd place - Tracee Thomas (North, Riverside) 11.691 - 6 points
4th place - Porchea Carroll (Rio Mesa, Oxnard) 11.694 - 4 points
5th place - Latrice Borders (Wilson, Long Beach) 11.698 - 2 points
Clear photo with little question on placing.
JW North (Riverside) finished with 42 points, Wilson (Long Beach) with 37 points
was second.
Any loss in place by Thomas .003 slower or .008 improvement by Borders (to 11.690) would have given
Wilson 6 in the 100, and drop of one place by Thomas would have given North 4.
How much is a thousandth of a second in distance at the finish
of a sprint???
A four point gain by Wilson would give them 41 just a place drop (4 instead of 6 points) by Thomas would have given
them 40 points.
In the midst of probably the best ever state meet sprinting seen in
U.S. prep history on the Girls' side it was quite amazing to have such
a close finish be so significant in the team scoring.
Thank God for the Finish-Lynx Timing system used at the meet
