24.85. 5-Jain Ja Williams, Notre Dame 25.36. 6-Kim Turko, North Edison 25.45

the Gr. IV meet and finished with her PR of 54.05. Nicol Corsey of Deptford was

2nd ahead of soph Mia Campo of St. mary's

	1-Barber 54.05. 2-Corsey 56.47. 3-Campo 56.70. 4-Mandie Dulin, Shawnee

56.77. 5-Takia Canty, Willingboro 56.94. 6-Sikira Backus, Princeton 57.23.

800M: Dara Crocker of Columbia was missing her constant shadow, teammate

Naatalie Deffenbaugh, who ran the 1600, but got early pressure from frosh Tara

DeBrielle of Overbrook and later from Katrina Sye of Buena. It was still a

repeat win in 2:12.40.

	 1-Crocker 2:12.40. 2-Sye 2:13.18. 3-DeBrielle 2:16.08. 4-Kaneisha

Campbell, Lakewood 2:16.50. 5-Shauna McFadzean, Columbia 2:16.80. 6-Julie

1600M: It was another wire-to-wire win for Lorena Adams of Manchester twp

who set a fast pace, hoping to get under 4:50. But she tired in the stretch and

ran 4:54.41. Deffenbaugh was the only one who tried to keep pace and it cost her

asshe just held off Meghann Ganey of Ridge for 2nd.

approach her legally wind-aided 13.38 in the Gr. IV meet four days earlier. he

IH: A poor Gr. IV race had put Ayana Coleman of Columbia in the

second-seded section. She snapped back with a 1:01.09 win that gave the seeded

runners something to shoot for. Mandie Dulin of Shawnee, defending champ, was

nursing a sore thight muscle, but ignored it to win again in 59.96, a stumble at

the last hurdle costing her a state record. Katrina Sye of Buena lowered her PR

to 1:00.55 in 2nd.

	1-Dulin 59.96. 2-Sye 1:00.55. 3-Coleman 1:01.09. 4-Bassey Adjah,

HJ: Tamika Toppin of South Plainfield continued her "comeback" with

another 5-8 win here with Kathren heide of Millburn and Cheryl Burdick of Ramsey

tying for 2nd at 5-6. (One eyewitness reported that when Burdick cleared the

bar. Heide was over it so soon the officials barely had time to look up.)

Windsor-Plainsboro 5-6. 5-Deirdre Mullen, Notre Dame 5-4. 6-Sarah Owens,

Clayton, and Kim Fife, Lakeland 5-4.

LJ: The four-jump, quite rushed nature of this event again hurt the

jumping with Carlene Cummings of Englewood barely defeating Tina Johnson of

Burlington Twp at 18-2. Both are capable of 19-0 under proper conditions.)

	1-Cummings 18-2. 2-Johnson 18-1/2. 3-Faith Nichols, Bridgeton 17-10 1/2.

6-Bassey Adjah, Piscataway 17-3 1/2.

SP: Sarah Beth Cullen of Red Bank repeated her 1996 triumph in a very

evenly-balanced field with eight girls over 40-0. She hit 42-11 and won by 20

inches from Passaic soph Labelle Hillgrove.

	1-Cullen 42-11. 2-Hillgrove 41-3 1/4. 3-Jamine Moton, Delsea 41-2 3/4.

field with a 145-5 effort. Gina Monari of Lacey, daughter of former shot put

star Vince Monari, was 2nd at 131-5.

	1-Moton 145-5. 2-Monari 133-5. 3-Boykin 130-0. 4-Krystal Pasley, Edison

127-10. 5-Mirjana Banic, Clark 127-0. 6-Cyndy Wilks, Bridgeton 124-3 (Freshman

sister of Ray and Helen).

JT: Jen Graf of Metuchen lifted her PR to 148-8 for 7th on the NJ AT

list, but exactly 50 feet behind the state (and national) record. Junior Laura

Primerano of Notre Dame also had a PR at 134-3 in 2nd.

	1-Graf 148-8. 2-Primerano 134-3. 3-Lynlee Phillips, Shawnee 125-2.

4-Vicki McArdle, Absegami 124-3. 5-Dana Thul, North Plainfield 123-4. 6-Melissa

Christopher, Salem 119-5.

1600R: It appeared that Willingboro might finally hang one on Columbia

here as it took a big lead on the opening leg and held it against constant

nemesis Crocker on the 2nd. But Ayana Coleman ran a 56.2 to get Columbia close

and Natalie Deffenbaugh closed with 56.1, lunging in the last stride to get a

.02 margin in 3:49.70. It was the same Columbia foursome that set the national

3200R indoors and won the DMR at Penn with Shauna McFadzean opening.

	1-Columbia 3:49.70. 2-Willingboro 3:49.72. 3-Plainfield 3:53.74 (separate

race). 4-Paterson ES 3:55.67. 5-Teaneck 3:58.20. 6-Middletown South 3:58.52.
