Maryland 4A-3A Girls Regional Rankings

Eleanor Roosevelt Is the State Meet Favorite

Look to the sprints for the girls 4A-3A state champion, with Eleanor Roosevelt having a clear edge based on regional results. The state championship February 18 should turn on the efforts of Robinson and McNair of ER, Higginbottom of Frederick, Lewis of Oxon Hill, Allen of Old Mill, and Western-Baltimore's "presidents" duo of Jefferson and Jackson.

The timers will need sharp eyes in the 55 meter dash to separate five girls who are tied at 7.2 seconds for the fastest time in the state. The sprinters will extend their rivalry in the relays, where Eleanor Roosevelt tops the list in both the 800 and 1600 meters.

Hypothetical scoring of the regional rankings shows Eleanor Roosevelt with 74 points and a comfortable lead, but this is built on a narrow edge in several races. Oxon Hill is second with 42 points, followed by Old Mill 32.4, Dulaney 26 (all Meghan White), Frederick 25, Quince Orchard 24, Western-Baltimore 22.5, Meade 17.5, Arundel 16, Richard Montgomery 12, and Paint Branch 11.
