Highlights by assistant meet director Ronn Blaha [email protected] : In the boys race, Jorge Torres was with a group at the 2-mile mark (9:36) and then began to pull away. At 2.5 miles he felt a record was in sight so he began to push the pace. He did get the course record of 15:04 besting the old record by eight seconds. A tie was declared for 8th place as Eduardo Torres ran across the line as Neil Hanson dove across. Three different videos shot at the finish still showed that the race was too close to call. Lyndsi Gay is a newcomer to the cross country field, running in only her 12th meet. Her parents had an early flight out of Wisconsin as they did not expect her to qualify. At the 2-mile mark Christin Wurth, last year's champ, and Rebecca Mitchell were leading.
