includes the five westernmost counties of Maryland: Frederick, Carroll, Washington,
Allegany, and Garrett.
BOYS
Greg McCormick, Middletown state champion high jumper first time out of the
box, tied for second in Maryland overall (6-6); national AAU 15-16 Junior Olympics
decathlon champion; also WMd 8th in long jump (20-3.5).
Alex Herbert, Urbana 8th in 100 (11.4h).
Chris McGovern, Frederick 11th in 300 hurdles (43.8h)
Vernal Briscoe, Clear Spring seventh in long jump (20-4.75) and eighth in
triple jump (41-11)
Dan Spadacino, Walkersville eighth in pole vault (11-6, MD 20)
GIRLS
Randy Buzzell, Middletown State 2A champion in the 1600 (5:07.80, WMD 1, MD
3), following up on her state cross country championship last fall. Also ranked in the
3200 (11:19.46, WMD 1, MD 6) and 800 (2:20.8, WMD 2, MD 12).
Jackie Gray, Frederick eighth in 100 meters (13.0h) and ninth in 200 (26.8h)
Jennifer Spivey, Thomas Johnson 12th in 100 meters (13.1h), third
in 200 (25.6h, MD 17), and fourth in 400 (59.0h, MD 18)
Erin Gaeng, Thomas Johnson seventh in 200 meters (26.6h) and sixth in 400
(59.2h)
Ashley Reeder, Boonsboro 12th in 200 meters (27.5h)
