2004 summary
exploits of the 2003-2004 scholastic year

In its 8th year, DyeStat observes more fabulous achievements by American high school track and field and cross country athletes. Emphasis turned more toward sprints, but distance wasn't bad either.

New Faces

These are the freshmen (and even younger) performers who earned national ranking in the DyeStat Elite. There were 489 new faces, including 22 boys and 267 girls, proving again that girls mature earlier than boys. There were even 7th grade girls making the list, including Jordan Hasay CA (3000) and Briana Jackucewicz NJ (5000). Freshmen Ebony Collins CA and Bianca Knight MS led multiple sprint events, possibly foretelling future battles for national bragging rights. Devon Williams, who was on this list as an eighth grader last year, led the new faces in five indoor events, including a US record of 1:11.53 in 500 meters.
