WALNUT CA 10/21/06 -- MT. SAC stands for Mt. San Antonio College, and the biggest high school cross country meet. With the number of disciplines and the number of athletes that have been successful at Mt. SAC and beyond, Mt. SAC calls itself the "College of Champions," and and boasts "Where the World's Best Athletes Compete!" In its 59th year, Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational is only 1 year less than the age of the college itself. Mt. San Antonio College started out as Eastern Los Angeles County Community College. Then in 1946 it opened its doors as Mt. San Antonio College, renamed after Southern California's tallest and most visible snow-capped mountain (popularly known as Mt. Baldy) in the distance behind the College. The college today remains a community college with an enrollment over 23,000 offering over 200 degree and certificate programs through a semester system and a distinguished athletic program.

This weekend, it hosted the 59th Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational--an event for champions. It's a meet that attracts high school athletes from far and wide aimed at conquering the likes of "Poop Out Hill," "Reservoir Hill" and the "Switchbacks." Spread over two days, there are 98 Races, 525 schools, 19,000+ runners. It's one of the most challenging and exciting athletic events in California and perhaps nationwide.

Let the races begin.....The 59th Mt. SAC......
