Boys 4x800Syosset NY 7:43.52 over Shaker 7:44.82 againSyosset NY 7:43.52 and Shaker NY 7:44.82 waged another torrid duel. They were US#1 and US#3 all time indoors when they tied up in February in the Armory Collegiate Games. Then they went their separate ways at the national indoor meets, Shaker winning NSIC in New York and Syosset winning Nike Indoor Nationals in Maryland. They came together again before 50,000 fans in Franklin Field, and it was just as good. Shaker put its anchor from the February race, Joe Belokopitsky, in leadoff and grabbed a big lead with his 1:54.2 split. The strategy worked until the last 100 meters. Syosset worked its way up and was in striking distance as anchor Sean Tully got the stick against Shaker's John Maloy. Tully was patient until starting his kick with 300 meters to go. Tully collared the leader at the top of the stretch and finished a brilliant 1:51.8 split for the win. Another New York team, Shenendehowa 7:52.95 was third. Imagine what the New York state meet will be like. Syosset's Sean Tully (A) catches Shaker's John Maloy on the last turn. Results1 7:43.52 A Syosset
