Sa'de Williams CA 55.47

Boys

What a day for Justin Oliver

by Elliott Denman

The Stone Mountain, Georgia senior placed seventh in the long jump,
second in the 200, and took it all in the 400, clocking a sizzling 47.90, just .41
off the Nike meet record, that by 2004 Olympic relay squad gold medalist Kelly
Willie in 2002.
Springdale, Maryland senior Afolabi Aromire broke fast but couldn't hold
Oliver and settled for a 48.96 silver.
"My plan was to go out and get the lead early," said Oliver. They could
come with me if they wanted to. I was just going to come out and run my race.
"I came through 200 on time like I wanted to. I felt real good and was
cruising through it, and started building. I knew I had to drive home.
"It's on a flat track, so I know that is a good time."
His outdoor season goal: "45.6."

Sa'de Williams leaves no doubts in rough route

by Elliott Denman

Sa'de Williams left no doubts, winning the two-lapper by a giant-sized 1.28 seconds. When the sensational Alta Loma, California sophomore crossed the line in 55.47, runner-up Bianca Knight, Ridgeland, Mississippi sophomore, was some 10 meters back.

This was a two-race final and Winslow Township, NJ junior Krystal Cantey snared third over-all with a first-section 57.07 win over Hampton, Va. senior Shakirra Finnock's 57.57.

There were plenty of tangles en route to the finish line.

"It was crazy," said Williams. "It started on that second lap and I got kind of messed up. A girl kind of knocked me over, but it made me run faster. "I don't even really remember, whether she kind of clipped me or cut into my lane, to tell you the truth. "Once I went by her, I wanted to make sure she didn't catch me.

" It feels good to win nationals."
