Fremont UT girls invited
11/24/04 -- Fremont XC Club Plain City UT girls, undefeated Utah champion, accepted an at large invitation, raising the field to 33, with eight final selections -- four California automatics and four at large -- to be made Sunday Nov. 28. Fremont won the extra at large bid that resulted when only one of the Midwest region automatic slots for girls was accepted due to state association issues.

NTN field grows to 32 teams with 4 picks from Northeast;
9 slots left for next Sunday

11/21/04 -- Four teams from the Northeast region were invited today to the new Nike Team Nationals (NTN) to be held in Portland OR December 4. After evaluating state meet results in New York and New Jersey, the committee tabbed the Stotan Athletic Club, Manlius NY and Lincroft Track Club NJ boys and the Kinetic Saratoga Springs NY and Roxbury XC Club NJ girls as 1-2 in the Northeast.

Still to be decided --

After the California State Meet next Saturday, the NTN field will be completed with four California teams and five at large selections. One extra girls at large slot is available because Clarkston MI girls declined, and the Midwest third team, Waukesha West, also declined, both due to state association issues. All teams ranked 3rd or 4th in any region will be considered for the last at large bids.

There will be 21 boys teams instead of 20 because MW#2 Madison West XC Club WI initially declined due to state association issues and their automatic bid was given to Northridge XC Club IN. Later, Madison West appealed the state association decision and terms for their participation were worked out. NTN decided to admit Madison West as an extra team rather than use an at large slot.
