NTN Northwest Rankings - Pre-Season
The NTN regional rankings are the basis of the NTN team selection process. The top two teams in each region at the end of the season will be invited to compete in the Nike Team Nationals in Portland Dec. 4. The third and fourth place teams in each region are considered for the four national at-large selections.

| Jesuit has two stars plus outstanding depth filling in, making it the regional
favorite at the outset. Ferris is very balanced and deep to get the nod among
Washington teams, with perennial power Mead aiming to have its fine underclass track
grouping take a big step up it keeping the crew a regional force. Central Catholic
loses a ton of talent, but a pair of young stars and some dynamite sophomore gems
should have the crew in contention. |
Bellarmine already had one great frontrunner and fine depth, but the addition of
possibly two age group superstars tabs it as the slight favorite over a Snohomish attack returning three of the state’s premier individuals. Flathead returns six,
spearheaded by former Foot Locker champion Zoe Nelson, waging a fierce battle for
Nike Team Nationals at-large consideration, at the least. |

NTN will select two teams from each region, plus four at large teams to compete in the cross country team championships. The Harrier magazine has published regional rankings for years for the four Foot Locker regions. We reviewed data for 2003 and selected the top 10 teams in each of the eight new NTN regions.
