Vineland (NJ) came in as the favorite and the Garden State crew didn’t disappoint.

Taft (CA) led at the first exchange, and on the second leg Trenton (NJ) Central
took over. Vineland moved into contention on the 400m leg, thanks to Schaefer Scherrer. Trenton Central was still in control in the early stages of the conclusive 800m, but Vineland took command with Mumford (Detroit, MI) right behind in second place.

Vineland anchor Shannon Scherrer pulled way out in front and crossed the finish
line in 3:29.46, the fastest this season on a flat track. Matt DeBole moved Mt. Tabor (Winston-Salem, NC) into second place on the backstretch, closing in 3:31.90. Third was Mumford in 3:32.10.

Vineland’s lineup was Dale Coleman, Marcus Lee and the Scherrer brothers. “It
feels great to come out here,” said Shannon Scherrer. “I love the crowd. I think this will prove to everybody with all those computer websites that we’re the best sprint medley in town. In the world, as a matter of fact.”
