Derryfield Park, in Manchester, New Hampshire
is the hardest course in New England and the Northeast I have ever
run. Comparing it to Van Cortland makes Van Cortland look like a
walk in the park.
Derryfield has a 400m grassy up hill start, with a small mostly
flat loop going to 400m hill into the woods for the first mile.
Second mile you run up a very steep section for almost 400m to
a flat winding fence you follow, jump a small hurdle to a step dropping
hill about 15 feet, then across a foot bridge up a local ski hill
for almost half a mile.
Once you reach the top you run a turn in the woods to begin the
third mile. Third mile is a quick downhill for 300m's to a flat
the goes by the finish. Then you zig zag your way up a hill rounding
3 turns to a 200m finish. The number of hills on the course are
more then all the courses I have ever run.
