Jefferson Barracks Section, St. Louis 10/29/05 - 4A Sectionals

Meredith Snow of Eureka dashed to an 18:12 5k win and establish herself as once again the favorite for the Missouri State crown next Saturday. Snow won last year's 4A championship. Mary Nothum of Washington was second at 19:11, with Laura Gosen (19:29) and Hillary Orf (19:43) leading team champion Marquette in third and fourth. Marquette scored 45 points for a solid team win. Eureka was second with 72 and Parkway West, St. Louis (85) and Summit (86) took the final qualfying spots.

GIRLS TEAM SCORES: *Marquette 45, * Eureka 72; *Parkway West, St. Louis 85; *Summit 86; Kirkwood 114; Cape Girardeau Central 160; Jackson 185; Lindbergh, St. Louis 193; Fox, Arnold 243; Seckman, St. Louis 278.

Ben Brammeier ran 16:22 to win by 22 seconds and lead Parkway South to the boys team title. Eric Fernandez of Parkway West was second at 16:44, edging Jamie Lee (Eureka 16:46). John Kipper of Cape Central was fourth at 16:54 with Ryan Briggs (Parkway South) fifth at 16;56. Parkway South won with 45 points, with Marquette second with 74. Lafayette, St. Louis was fourth with 91 and Eureka (101) shaded Cape Central (108) for the final qualfiying spot.

Sioux Passage Park Sectional

HL#10 St. Louis University (53) edged DeSmet, St. Louis (55) for the boy's team title, with CBC, St Louis (84) and Pattonville, St. Louis (107) also securing a trip to Jeff City for the state meet. Dan Quigley of CBC won in a time of 16:02, outkicking Ben Murphy-Baum of University (16;04). Max Hacker (Hazelwood West 16:18) was third with Tom Albes (DeSmet 16:21) fourth and Matt Lawder SLUH 16:28) fifth. SLUH scored 2-5-7-21-24 for it's scoring five, while DeSmet went 4-10-11-17-19 to set up a great matchup at state.

Columbia Sectional - 5000m

HL#6 Ft. Zumwalt South won the boys team title with 40 points, with Jefferson City second with 59. Hickman, Columbia and Kickapoo, Springfied also advanced. Kyle Rood, Ft. Zumwalt South, runs an great time of 15:04 for the 5k course. Jefferson City put four runners in the top 15 to win the girls title with 39 points. Rock Bridge, Columbia was second with 79, and Rolla and Ft. Zumwalt South gained the other qualifying spots.

Kansas City Sectional @ Lake Jacomo, Blue Springs

The Lee's Summit North ladies won the Missouri 4A state meet and ranked in the Heartland Top Ten last year, but this year have been fairly quiet. But last week they served notice at the Suburban Conference meet that they will be a force to be reckoned with, running close to HL#9 Blue Springs and defeated previously HL ranked Liberty.

This week LSN took another huge step toward defending their state title, winning the KC Sectional title 40 to 48 once again over Blue Springs. Liberty (75) and Raymore-Peculiar (95) took the other two qualifying spots. Ashley Mark led LSN, winning the sectional title in 19:13 in comfortable fashion. Lauren Renfrow (Blue Springs) was second at 19:47, with Elizabeth Keaveney (St. Teresa's, Kansas City) third at 19:52, with Katie Dwyer (LSN 19:52) and Lydia Newland (Liberty 20:06) completing the top five. LSN went 1-4-6-8-26 to show good up front power, while Blue Springs went 2-9-10-17-18 to set up an interesting match-up at state.

HL#1 Liberty dominated the boy's race with 42 points. Blue Springs was second with 70, with Oak Park, Kansas City 77 and Lee's Summit North (89) also qualifying. Jacob Boone of Lee's Summit North celebrated his birthday in fine fashion, winning in 16:06. Kip Hill led Liberty in second at 16:13, with Geoff Hughes (Raytown South 16:16), Josh Rollins (Blue Springs 16:29) and Dan Harkins (Blue Springs 16:36) completing the top five.
