We may have a virtual dead heat for HL#3 based on this meet. If there ever was a time for the ranking committee to call a midseason tie, now may be the time for it. Nobody broke 17:30 even, on this extremely hilly course. Jr-Abdi Awale (Willmar) does win the individual event in a time of 17:38. HL#4 Yankton boys scored 43 pts, followed by HL#3 Willmar at 44 points. Both teams with identical average times of 18:08! Total time seperation only 1 second, in Willmar's favor. If the teams there had all been complete, Willmar wins 49 to 51. Long-time Bowman ND coach Jerry Popp, a ND legend with many state championships in his resume, retired and moved to the Willmar area where he has been assisting with the Willmar boys and has played a large role intheir sudden ascendency.
