Boys

1. Liberty MO--Won the Mid-America Bank Invitational 35 to 41 over Heartland #5 SMNW in Baldwin KS.  Kip Hill led the team in 2nd at 15;33

2. West Plains MO--Won the Frank Horton Invitational in Memphis with 19. Keaton Morgan won with a 15;16 3 mile.

3. Marshall MN--Won the Willmar Invitational Tuesday 26-33 over state-ranked Willmar team. Dahir Jumale won the individual title with a time of 15:35 for 5k

4. Lakeville MN-- No meet scheduled.

5. Shawnee Mission Northwest KS--Close second at the Mid-America Bank Invitational to Liberty MO.  Tucker Weems won the meet at 15;3

6. Hopkins MN--First place Thursday 9/30 at the Elk River Invitational.  No other information received.

7. Stevens Rapid City SD--Won the Sturgis Invitational Friday with 20 points. Marshall Kambestad (15;52) and Alex Homgren (16;05) ran 1-2 in the meet.

8. Kearney NE--Placed 2nd Thursday at the Columbus Invitational to Fremont.

9. Fremont NE--Won the Columbus Invitational Thursday 28-52 over Kearney with a 1-2 finish from Brian Parr (15:29) and Jeff Grassmeyer (15;33)

10. St. Joseph Central MO--Won the Grandview Invitational Thursday over Lee's Summit North MO 55-58.

Boys Notable non-ranked team: 

Emporia KS won the Oklahoma State Cowboy Stampede in Stillwater Saturday.

Girls

1. West Plains MO--Won the Frank Horton Invitational in Memphis with 18 points, led by individual winner Jennifer Harper (17:57 3 mile)

2. Yankton SD--Won the South Sioux City NE Invitational with 15 points.
Ramsey Kavan set a 4k course record in 14:04, Betsy Bies second at 14:46.

3. Iowa City West IA--Won the Iowa City West invitational Tuesday with a 1-2 finish.

4. Lakevill MN--No meet scheduled

5. Roosevelt Sioux Falls SD--no information found or received

6. Hopkins MN--1st place Thursday 9/30 at the Elk River Invitational. No other information reported yet.

  7. Marquette MO--Friday 10/30 at the Ladue Invitational.  Results not reported yet

8. Lee's Summit North MO--Ran a partial squad at the Grandview Invitational Thursday, placing fourth

9. Minnetonka MN--Tuesday 10/5 @ the Chaska Invitational

10. Liberty MO--Easily own the Mid-America Bank Invitational at Baldwin KS with 37 points, Lee's Summit 2nd at 75.

 

Kansas

Bishop Miege Invitational @ Miege HS, Roeland Park

Fifteen teams converged on Miege's flat, but treacherous (mud and turns) course on a cool Saturday morning that turned into perfect running weather by mid-day.      

Olathe South continued it's strong season, winning the boys varsity title with 55 points, over Blue Valley (98) and Shawnee Mission South (100).  Mike Partridge led South, winning the individual title in 16:34 for 5k.  Partridge pulled away late from a pack including Graham Laird (Pembroke Hill, Kansas City MO 16:38), Chris Adams (Raytown MO 16:41), Daniel Everhart (Turner, Kansas City KS 16:41) and Andrew Potter (Park Hill South, Kansas City MO 16:42).     

Shawnee Mission South may now be the hottest girls team on the Kansas side, winning the team title with 50 points, edging St. Teresa's Kansas City MO's 55.  Olathe East was third with 86 points.  St Teresa's Elizabeth Keaveney pulled away in the last 800 to win the 2 mile race in 11:55.  Kristen Gillespie (SM South) was second in 12:04, with Hillary Forman (Pembroke Hill 12:21), Kelsy Long (Miege 12:22) and Kelsy O'Hara (Mill Valley 12;23) completing the top five.

Community/America Invitational @ Baldwin    

Liberty MO (#1 Heartland) and Shawnee Mission Northwest (#5 Heartland) boys staged a big match-up on Baldwin's  fast golf course.  Liberty (34) pulled out a narrow win over SMNW (41) with Lee's Summit MO third (74).  Tucker Weems (SMNW) ran 15:30 for 5k, pulling away to win from Liberty's Kip Hill (15;33).  Josh Ehrard (Lee's Summit West MO) was third at 15:36, with Bret Imgrund (SMNW 15:57) and Chavis Clawson (Liberty 15:57) fourth and fifth in close team racing.    

Liberty's girls (#10 Heartland) had an easier time of it in the girls 4k race, scoring 37 to win from Lee's Summit 75, with Aquinas Overland Park KS scoring 79 to take third from Shawnee Mission Northwest (93).  Shawnee Mission North's Kristen Wolkey roared over the rolling course to score a substantial win in 14:52.  Rachel Newland led Liberty, placing second at 15:10, with Lindsey Billington (Lee's Summit West MO 15:15), Lauren Carr (Liberty 15;15) and Anna Yost (Girard 15;18) making up a tight pack in 3-4-5.

Shawnee Heights Invitational @ Lake Shawnee, Topeka     

Topeka Seaman scored 63 points behind individual winner Grant Cain to take the Shawnee Heights Invitational over the hills of Lake Shawnee.  Cain, the defending 5A state champ, ran 16;20 to handily win.  David Zak (Shawnee Mission West) was second at 16:33, with Kory Cool (Manahattan) third at 16:40.  Jonathan Baker (Blue Valley West) was fourth at 17;03 and Tommy Hastings (Leavenworth) fifth at 17;03.  Seaman was followed in the team standings by Lawrence (93) in second, edging Manhattan's 96.     Rebecca Stowe (Olathe Northwest) scored an individual victory in the girls race, running 12:17 for two miles to shade Kelly Renfro (Lawrence 12:23).  Heather Klotz (Leavenworth 12:36), Lauren Miller (Manhattan 12:43) and Kara Windisch (Blue Valley West 12:56) rounded out the top five.  Blue Valley West won the team title with 58 points, with Lawrence (65) and Shawnee Mission West (101) following.

Newton Invitational @ Centennial Park, Newton

Salina South packed four runners in the top ten and  scored 41 to win the boys title at the Newton Invitational Saturday, with El Dorado (74) second and Buhler (84) third.  Nick Nowack (McPherson) ran 16:17 for 5k for a clear win with El Dorado's Bobby Morton 16;29 second and Scott Thompson (Salina South 16;37) third.    El Dorado likewise put four in the top ten to win the girls title with 24 points, with Buhler (66) second and McPherson (90) third.  Laura Nightengale (12:08) and Jennifer Carlson (12:22) ran 1-2 for El Dorado with Valley Center's Shuck (12:32) edging Buhler's Esau (12:32) for third. 

Topeka Hayden Invitational 10/1/04

Lawrence Free State edged many time defending 4A state champBaldwin 35-41 for the boys title, with Wamego third with 71 points.  Dan Schneider led Free State, running 16;12 for 5k to win from Baldwin's Keith Cowart (16:43) with J.P. Myers (Topeka Hayden) third at 16:46.    Baldwin own the girls title with 26 points, with Free State scoring 47 to edge Wamego (50).  Alysha Valencia (Free State) ran 11:52 for 2 miles to win, with Heather Garcia (Baldwin) second at 12:01.

Iowa

Urbandale Invitational 10/01/04:  

Urbandale's Cassi Sokol won her home invitational, running 14;41 for 4k. Urbandale scored 36 to win with Johnston second at 56 with third going to Fort Dodge 71.   Johnston won the boys title with 41.  Second went to Dowling Catholic 58 and third to  Fort Dodge 65.  Urbandale's girls also won the Waukee Invite on 9/30 with 17 points, Stephanie Mundt winning (14;49) and Sokol running 14:55 to place second.

Minnesota

WILLMAR INVITATIONAL TUESDAY 9/27/04  

Marshall swept the boys and girls titles at the Willmar Invitational Tuesday, the boys edging a state-ranked Willmar team 26-33 and the girls winning by a score of 23-37 over Willmar.  Dahir Jumale won the boys title for Marshall running 15:35, with team mate Yayha Iman thirdd at 15:55, and Akey Jumale fourth at 15;57. 

Missouri

GRANDVIEW INVITATIONAL @ LONGVIEW LAKE, KCMO, THURSDAY 9/29/04

St. Joseph Central's boys edged Lee's Summit North for the team title at the Grandview Invitational Thursday, while Blue Springs edged Jefferson City for the girls title.    Chris Pullen (16:04) and Brett Musser (16:12) ran 1-2 for St. Joe Central, with Michael Pierce (Oak Park KC MO) third at 16:13, just  ahead of Jacob Boone (Lee's Summit North 16:15) and David Fuchs (Lee's Summit North 16;17).  St. Joe Central scored 55 points to Lee's Summit North's 58.  Jefferson City was third with 70 and Oak Park fourth with 83 in the twelve team field.     Hannah Corte (St. Joe Central) won the girls 5k title with a time of 19:48, shading Andrea Owensby (Blue Springs 19:53).  Anne Evan (Jeff City 19:54) was a close third, with Alex Harkins (Blue Springs 20:06) and Krystal Porter (Raytown 20:07) fourth and fifth.  Blue Springs won with 32 points, with Jefferson City a close second with 38.  St. Joe Central was third with 86 and Lee's Summit North (holding out many key runners)  fourth at 109.

West Plains rules Frank Horton Meet in Memphis  

Led by individual winners Keaton Morgan (15;16) and Jennifer Harper (17:57 three mile), West Plains scored 19 (boys) and 18 (girls) points to crush the fields at the Frank Horton Invitational.

Nebraska

Millard West Invitational @ Walnut Grove Park, Omaha

Marian, Omaha won the girls title with 45 points, with Millard West scording 63 to edge cross-town Millard North (64) for second.  Brittany Poole (Millard West freshman) ran 14;59 for 4k to win by a large margin, with Alex Nelson (St. Pius X, Lincoln) second at 15;25.  Marian's Katie Kelly and Katie Kersonbrock went 3-4 with times of 15:30 and 15:35 and were joined by team mate Kelly Esch (15:48 6th) in the top ten.    Millard North scored 45 to win the boys title with ease, with Piux X, Lincoln second with 91 and Papillion-LaVista South third with 102.  Matt Conahan (Millard North) zipped to the 5k title in 16;02, with  Todd Gulizia (Millard South) second at 16:12. Third went toScott Reed (Omaha North 16;28).

Columbus NE Invite 10/1/02

HL#9 Fremont boys take HL#8 Kearney behind 1-2 punch Brian Parr (15:29) and Jeff Grassmeyer (15;33) ran to a one-two finish at the three mile Columbus Invitational  Friday, and led Fremont to a 28-52 triumph over Kearney. Omaha Bryan/South was third with 75 points.  Norfolk's Sufian Kimo was third at 15:38.  Ryan Little led Kearney in fourth at 15;58 and Bryan/South's Barnabas Dyedi was fifth at 16;00.
