Iowa City West Girls win MVC Divisional meet (Early report)
Iowa City West placed five runners in the top to score 24 points, and won the girls division of the MVC Divisional meet. Cedar Falls (51, #3 IA 4A), Kennedy Cedar Rapids (73 points, #5 IA 4A), Washington Cedar Rapids (91, #11 IA 4A) and Wahler Dubuque (112, #3, IA 3A) followed in the strong field.

Roosevelt Des Moines wins boys title at CIML Central Conference @ Indianola 10/12/04
Roosevelt Des Moines won the boys title at the CIML Central Conference in rainy weather with 27 points, with Lincoln Des Moines second with 43 and Hoover Des Moines third with 85. Kiel Uhl (Roosevelt) won the individual title in 15:21 with team mate Jon Thomas second. Roosevelt rested it's 3-4 runners.
Cassie Sokol and Stephanie Mundt ran 1-2 for Urbandale and led their team to the girls conference title. Johnston High School was second. Girls times were not reported.
Kansas Wichita City League 10/16 @ Cessna Activities Center
Brock Phillips (15;46) and Phillip Weidner (16;06) ran 1-2 for Wichita East at the City League championships, but Bishop Carroll put six runners into the top ten and won their third straight title with 26 points. Kaupan Mt. Carmel was second with 94 and Wichita East third with 110.
Courtney Johnson (Kapuan Mt. Carmel) roared over the rolling 4k course in 14:39 to win the girl's title for the second year in a row, and Kapuan won their third consecutive girl;s title with 39 points. Centennial League at Lake Shawnee, Topeka
Emporia swept to the boys and girls titles at the Centennial League meet at Lake Shawnee Saturday. Emporia won the boys title with 38 points behind the 1-2 finish of Shea Camien (16;16) and Nick Garcia (16:25) with defending 5A state champ Grant Cain (Seaman-Topeka 16:26) third. Emporia reportedly held out their third runner. Seaman was second with 55 points and Junction City third with 82. Emporia also won the girls title handily with 26 points. Layne Moore ran 12:01 for two miles, with Tamera Smith (Junction City) second at 12:12 and Michaela Reynolds (Emporia) third at 12:20. Seaman was second with 73 points and Manhattan third with 98.

Chisholm Trail League Division III and Division IV
El Dorado ran to sweeps of the Chisholm Trail League titles, the boys edging Buhler 29-31, and the girls scoring 26 to defeat Buhler's 47. Russel (16:26) and Riggs (16:35) ran 1-2 for Buhler in the boys race, while Nightengale (11:52), Carlson (12:11) and Bookout (12:30) ran 1-2-3 for El Dorado in the girls.
Jay Lindahl roared to a 16:02 5k win and led the Clearwater boys to a 21-47 win over Circle to win the Division IV title, while team mate Mallory Champa zipped to an 11:17 two mile, and won by over a minute in leading Clearwater's girls to the division title with 26 points. Andover was second with 49.
EKL @ Heritage Park, Olathe
Laura Roxberg (Blue Valley Northwest) and Jana Gwinn (Blue Valley North) hooked up again in another blazing duel Roxberg running 13:10 over the reported 4k to Gwinn's 13:15. Lauren Holt (BV North) was third at 14:10, with Katie Coomer (14:20) and Alyssa Belinder (14:25) running fourth and fifth to lead Aquinas to the team title 50 to 54 over BV North. Bishop Miege was third with 73 points.
Aaron Geary roared to a 16:34 5k win, and led his Blue Valley North team to an overwhelming championship with four runners in the top ten and 24 points. Tim Specht (BV West) was second at 17:00, with Zach Matson (BV North 17:05), Jason Collett (Aquinas 17:09) and Mark Hirschmann (BV North 17:10) following in the top five. Aquinas was second with 57 points and Blue Valley third with 85.
Kaw Valley League at St. Mary's College, Leavenworth
Andy Kolman ran 17:50 to win the boy's title, and led his Tonganoxie team to the Kaw Valley title with 24 points. Mill Valley was second with 53 points and Bonner Springs third at 70. Sullivan Bennett (18:06 Bonner Springs) and Mike Whim (Mill Valley 18:32) were second and third over the rugged 5k.
Kelsey O' Hara ran 12:41 to lead Mill Valley to the girls title with 24 points. Christy Weller (Tonganoxie 13:07) and Bianca Manaco (Lansing 13:16) were second and third. Lansing (68) and Tonganoxie (100) followed in the team race.
Kansas Conferences Thursday 10/15
NCKL meet: Abilene boys edged Wamego, and the Clay Center girls won handily, no individual results received yet.
MCAA: Hillsboro (44) outran Collegiate-Wichita (69) for the boys team title, while Smoky Valley ruled the girls race, scoring 33 with Halstead second with 61. Collegiate's Andrew Neel went 16:59 to handily win the boys race, while Leah Thompson (Lyons) ran 12:15 for 2 miles to win by a large margin.
HOC: Trinity-Hutchison ran off to a 30-66 win over Peabody in the boys race, with Peabody's Andrew Topham winning easily in 16:48. Remington (20) edged Peabody (23) for the girls title. Melissa Bartlett (Remington) ran 12:58 to just edge Andrea Klaasen (Berean Academy 12:59) for the girls title.
WESTERN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: Great Bend won the boys title with 31 points, as Dodge City was second with 57. Hays won the girls title with 32 points, Garden City second with 61. No individual results received yet.
Minnesota
Minnesota Classic Lakes Conference @ Gale Wood Regional Park 10/13/04
In a close race among top Minnesota squads, Minnetonka scored 41 to edge Hopkins (47) and Edina (52) for the Classic Lakes Conference girls title. Minnetonka put four runners in the top ten to win. Sophomore Emily Schwitzer (Hopkins) won the individual title at 14:51, with Molly Lehman (senior) leading Minnetonka with a 14:55 second place finish. Angie Henry (8th) was third for Minnetonka (15;14), with Anna Urdahl (soph, Minnetona) fourth in 15;21 and Edina senior Jenna Carlson fifth at 15:32.
Hopkins won the boys title with 37 points, with Edina a close second at 42. Wayzata was third with 77 points. Mike Krisch, Hopkins senior, pulled away to win the 5k boys title in 15:57. Nick Bock (16:11) and TC Lumbar (16;18) ran 2-3 for Edina. Mike Mueller (Hopkins 16;30) and Mike Mommsen (St. Louis Park 16;32) completed the top five.

Lake Conference @ Eagen High School, Friday 10/15/04
Eden Prarie scored 52 and edged Lakeville (56) for the boy's Lake Conference title Friday. Despite terrible conditions with temps in the fourties, high winds and sleet hampering the runners, Burnsville freshman Rob Finnerty ran 16;38 to win the individual title, with team mate Mike Finnerty second at 16;46, edging Eden Prarie's Zach Cory (16;49).
Tim Bruhn (Lakeville) was fourth at 16:51 and Devin Corey (Eden Prarie) fifth at 16:54. Rosemount (81) shaded Burnsville (89) for third in the team race.
Lakeville won the girls title with 50 points, with Eden Prarie a close second with 56. Apple Valley was third with 88 points. Despite conditions, Elizabeth Yetzer (Lakeville) stilled smoked a 14;48 4k to win by a wide margin, with Heather Dornidon (Rosemount) second at 15:18, and Natalie Yarbrough (Eastview 15:21), Callie Malone (Eden Prarie 15;23) and Danielle Berndt (15:26 Kennedy-Bloomington) forming a tight pack in 3-4-5.

Suburban Big 6 championship @ Hidden Valley Park, Kansas City MO 10/15/04
St. Joseph Central roared to the boys title, scoring 16 points, with Truman-Independence second with 55 and Park Hill South-Kansas City third with 72. Chris Pullen (17:22), Bret Musser (17;23), Brycen Johnson (17:40) and Jeff Beeson (17:42) ran to a 1-2-3-4 finish for St. Joe Central over the rugged and hilly course at Hidden Valley, considered one of the toughest in the KC area. St. Joseph Central also won the girls title with 40 ponts, shading Park Hill South's 49. Truman was third with 85. Hanna Korte (20:47) and Megan Reynolds (21:03), and Angie Benedict (21:17) went 1-2-3 for St. Joe Central.
Suburban Mid 6 championship @ Belton
Lee's Summit West (41) edged Raytown (43) for the boys title at the Mid 6 championship with Park Hill-Kansas City (57) third. Jopsh Erhard led Lee's Summit West, winning in a time of 16;50, with Park Hill's Ryan O; Laughlin (17:13) edging Cam Cundiff (Lee's Summit West 17:15) for second.
Lee's Summit West also won the girl's title with 47 points, with Raymore-Peculiar (55) and Park Hill (73) following. Krystal Porter (Raytown) won the individual title in 20:59, with Lindsay Billington (Lee's Summit West 21:42) and Kaly Prather (Ray-Pec 21:52) second and third.
Warrensburg Invitational @ Warrensburg
In a top meet matching mid-sized schools from Northwest Missouri, Warrensburg scored a sweep of the boy's and girls team titles. Warrensburg scored 62 to win the boys title with Smith-Cotton of Sedalia second (82) and Pembroke Hill-Kansas City third (113), and won the girls title with 49 points, with Harrisonville (75) and Holden (91) following. Matt Haffner (Pleasant Hill 16;40) won the boys title and sister Jamie Haffner (Pleasant Hill 19:40) the girls.

Suburban Conference Blue Division @ Kearney
Raytown South scored 31 to win the boys Blue Division of the Surburan Conference with Excelsior Springs second with 41 and Kearney third with 54. Geoff Hughes (Raytown South) won the individual title in 17:37. Raytown South also won the girls title with only 20 points, with Excelsior Springs second with 38 and Kearney third with 58. Catherine Looney (21:52) and Catherine Lech (21:55) ran 1-2 for South.

Stevens-Rapid City made quick work of the boys race winning with 27 points with Rapid City Central (80) and Roosevelt Sioux Falls (93) following. Marshall Kambestad (16:54) and Alex Whitesell (17;16) ran 1-2 for Stevens.
The girls race made up for what the boys race may have lacked in team excitement. Stevens scored 55, despite losing their #2 runner to illness, and edged O'Gorman Sioux Falls (56) and HL #5 Roosevelt Sioux Falls (58). Alison Eckert (15:10) and Krista Eckert (15:11) ran 1-2 for Roosevelt.
