Boys - Girls

Boys

1. York, IL - Just when you think this team might be beatable, they go out and outscore the MW #3 team 22-45 to win their regional and place their top six in the top eight spots.  Even with their top two runners running under the weather, York still ran one fantastic race, as they had an amazing split of 22 seconds from 1-6 and an even more amazing split of 14 seconds from 1-5.  The pace was fairly slow through two miles, at least for the top guys, as they went through the mark around 10:10, at which time the race opened up a bit.  Junior Nick Kuczwara has been vastly improving each week, so it will be exciting to see just how good he can get in the coming weeks.  Averaging right around 15:26 for 3.06 for their top five is fantastic!  York will face MW #3 Glenbard South again next weekend, as they start to prepare for their state meet.
Next Race: Saturday, Sectionals, Skokie, IL - York will once again face MW #3 Glenbard South, but this time it will be the final race before the Illinois State Cross Country Meet.
1. Eric Dettman - 15:18
3. Matt Dettman - 15:20
5. Nick Kuczwara - 15:30
6. David Montgomery - 15:31
7. Tom Achtein - 15:32
8. Mike Fry - 15:40
12. Ron Stefani - 16:11

2. Warren Central, IN - The WC beat the 2-5 teams in the state rather easily and looked as if they are simply the dominant force in Indiana this season, as they won the Franklin Central Semi-State (5k) 92-121 over MW #4 Carmel.  Despite an off-day by their number three runner, Central still looked very impressive, as their 2-5 runners had a split of 48 seconds.  They will need to maintain that split next weekend at their state meet.  Junior teammates De'Sean Turner and Ondraius Richardson both ran fantastic races, finishing in the top eight and really giving their team a boost.  As the state meet approaches, WC is seemingly getting stronger, which is always a great feeling this time of year.
Next Race: Saturday, State, Terre Haute, Indiana - The day is finally here, the Indiana State Cross Country Meet.  Four Indiana teams, who are all ranked in the top eight in the Midwest, will battle it out with a slew of other teams to see just who is the best team on the day.  Dyestat will have on-site coverage.
2. De'Sean Turner - 15:07
8. Ondraius Richardson - 15:46
19. Cody Smith - 16:08
28. Tim Armstrong - 16:26
35. Micah Aldrich - 16:34
39. James Hodges - 16:36
52. Caleb Pack - 16:46

3. Glenbard South, IL - Glenbard South ran a good race, but not a great race, as they lost to MW #1 US #2 York 22-45.  South had a strong front runner in Bruce MacTaggart, who continues to showcase each week that he is a top five threat at the state meet.  After MacTaggart, South showed their strength in pack, as their 2-5 runners had a split of 18 seconds.  The race played out rather slow, and for whatever reason, GS was caught on the back of the group.  This young and talented group has two more weeks to prepare as the state meet draws near.
Next Race: Saturday, Sectionals, Skokie, IL - South will once again face MW #1 York, but this time it will be the final race before the Illinois State Cross Country Meet.
2. Bruce MacTaggart - 15:19
9. Tim Honig - 16:03
10. Brian Wurtz - 16:04
11. Daniel Kuhlman - 16:10
13. Brian Billie - 16:21
14. John Navarro - 16:23
17. Charlie Mueller - 16:40

4. Carmel, IN - Losing 92-121 to MW #2 Warren Central at the Franklin Central Semi-State on Saturday had to hit home at least a little bit to this strong team.  Carmel, as usual, packed it up and raced very well, however it just wasn't enough to beat WC.  Carmel was led once again by Jacob Rich and Will Peters, who ran together and finished in the same time of 15:57.  Chad Bowman also finished in the top twenty, as Carmel had a nice spread of less than a minutes between their 1-7 runners.  Next week they will really need to improve if they hope on knocking off Warren Central, but as everyone knows, anything is possible on the day.
15. Jacob Rich - 15:57
16. Will Peters - 15:57
18. Chad Bowman - 16:05
30. Scott Ellabarger - 16:29
42. Logan Rosenberg - 16:38
51. Kevin Courtney - 16:46
56. J.D. Smith - 16:52

5. Whitefish Bay, WI - A 16:13 average for a slippery and wet 5k course, while beating your nearest oppenent 39-63 and beating two top of the top six ranked teams in the state is quite a day for any team.  WFB continued to roll through the Wisconsin competition, as they ran their sectional meet on Saturday.  Placing three runners in the top six, Bay simply ran away with the team title, showing that they should not be discounted quite yet in the regional rankings.  Steve Markson led the way for his squad, winning the individual title in a fast 15:42.  Kevin Sullivan and Geoff Horton also finished in the top six.  This was a great run for WFB, especially since this crew has not run fully together that much in the past few months due to injury.
Next Race: Saturday, State - WFB heads to their state meet, as they rap up their regular season.  They have been running well and head to their main meet riding a strong wave of momentum.
1. Steve Markson - 15:42
4. Kevin Sullivan - 16:11
6. Geoff Horton - 16:13
12. Chris Lybeck - 16:23
16. Kyle McFadden - 16:36
27. Ian Stewart - 16:58
33. Erik Stevens - 17:06

6. Columbus North, IN - Columbus North ran perhaps the best race of any team at the Franklin Central Semi-State, however they did simply not have enough, as they finished in third place scoring 138 points, and finishing behind MW #2 Warren Central and MW #4 Carmel.  North got a nice boost up front with Paul Zielinski and Eric Cave both finishing in the top twenty, but their gap of 21 seconds between their 3-4 runners was too much for them to make up.  North is running well at the right time of year, unfortunately for them though, the teams ahead of them are just a tad bit stronger.
14. Paul Zielinski - 15:56
17. Eric Cave - 16:03
22. John Pence - 16:15
40. Patrick Ryan - 16:36
45. Ryan Hildinger - 16:40
79. Sean McEwan - 17:14
113. Sam Baker - 17:56

7. LaSalle, OH - Winning their first district meet was not to difficult for LaSalle, as they placed their top seven runners in the top 21 positions of the race.  LaSalle beat Cincinnati Elder 36-54 to take home the team title, while junior front man Kyle Lang also took home some hardware, as the finished the 5k course in 16:01, easily winning the individual title.  LaSalle showed their strength in pack, as they had a nice 50 second split between Lang and fifth runner junior Corey Spriggs.  Senior Greg Bader and junior teammate Jake Neuskabel both finished in the top five, giving LaSalle the best 1-3 combination in the state of Ohio.
Next Race: Saturday, Districts - LaSalle should advance out of their last district meet to their state meet with ease.
1. Kyle Lang - 16:01
4. Greg Bader - 16:28
5. Jake Neuskabel - 16:28
12. Richard Lupp - 16:43
18. Corey Spriggs - 16:51
20. Andrew St. George - 17:01
21. Mitchell Heusman - 17:02

8. Hamilton Southeastern, IN - Hamilton SE took fourth place at the Franklin Central Semi-State scoring 146 points and finishing behind three MW ranked teams.  This team has been looking better each week, and despite a sub-par effort from their number two runner, this team is really showing signs of competitive fire at the right time of the year.  If their number two runner, junior Madison Roeder, ran up to where he was capable of, HSE would have beaten Columbus North and been awfully close to Carmel.  However, that did not happen and this squad will be focusing on the grand prize next weekend.  The return of senior Justin Roeder has been a huge boost, and proved to be even great on Saturday, as he finished a strong sixth place, guiding their top five scorers all under 16:40 and having a nice spread of 57 seconds.
6. Justin Roeder - 15:42
27. Madison Roeder - 16:25
33. Alex Susott - 16:33
37. Sean Fleck - 16:34
43. Cale Allen - 16:39
65. Evan Hitchcock - 17:01
76. Tyler Stegman - 17:13

9. Dexter, MI - They did not compete in a weekend invitational.  They are preparing for their state qualifying regional meet this coming weekend.
Race Results: None.
Next Race: Saturday, Regionals - The main meet in Michigan before the state meet, where they will get their chance to face MW #10 Williamston.  Until then, they will be focusing and preparing.

10. Williamston, MI - They competed at the Lakewood Jamboree.
Race Results: Results forthcoming.
Next Race: Saturday, Regionals - The main meet in Michigan before the state meet, where they will get their chance to face MW #9 Dexter.  Until then, they will be focusing and preparing.

Girls

1. Clarkston, MI - They did not compete in a weekend invitational.  They have been preparing well for the next two weekends, which are the most important weekends of their season.
Next Race: Saturday, Regionals, Clintonwood Park - This is Clarkston's last meet before the state meet in two weeks.

2. Waukesha West, WI - Waukesha West walked into their sectional meet and destroyed the competition, as they continue to steam roll through the Wisconsin season.  Once again West packed it up front and ran very well, as Laura Koch and Alyssa Beste placed 1-2 for their team, both finishing the 4k course in 14:46.  West placed their top five runners in the top 13 spots and had a great 1-5 split of only 50 seconds.  West's 6-7 runners finished 16,17 and were about 15 seconds back from their fifth runner.  This team is showing depth and great up front leadership as the state meet draws near.
Next Race: Saturday, State Meet - West will run at their state meet, where they are the odds-on-favorite to win.  The meet will take place at the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.
1. Laura Koch - 14:46
2. Alyssa Beste - 14:46
5. Karlye Wolff - 15:05
12. Meghan Dugan - 15:33
13. Ashley Vonck - 15:36
16. Erica Claas - 15:51
17. Alisha Roland - 15:54

3. Carmel, IN - Carmel ran at the Franklin Central semi-state meet, where they took on MW #5 Westfield and MW #10 Cathedral, and once again came out on top against these teams.  Carmel has looked strong and continues to impress, as they beat runner-up Westfield 63-75.  Placing two runners in the top ten and five in the top twenty, it was easily apparent that Carmel's depth is what won them this race.   Carmel's 1-5 split was an impressive 25 seconds, as their top five averaged a nice 15:02 for 4k.
Next Race: Saturday, State Meet, Terre Haute, Indiana - The day has finally arrived, the Indiana State Cross Country Meet is finally here.  With three top ranked teams going head to head one last time, the results should be fast and the race should be incredibly fun to watch.
6. Kayla McCurdy - 14:51
8. Lauren Waterman - 14:53
11. Bridget Blair - 14:57
18. Brittany Rutledge - 15:14
20. Kelly McCurdy - 15:16
25. Allie McMahon - 15:23
54. Libby Weinkauf - 15:58

4. Palatine, IL - Palatine competed at the Palatine regional meet and looked incredibly strong the whole way, as they ran without their number two runner, but still placed their top five in the top 15 places, as they scored a mere 43 points.  Palatine beat runner-up Fremd H.S. by 54 points.  They were led by individual champion Amy Laskowske, who covered the 2.95 course in 16:52, setting a course record, the last time she will ever run her home course.  After Laskowske, Palatine had a 2-6 split of only 12 seconds, as Katlin Millin and Michelle Brunk both finished in the top ten as well.  Palatine looked very strong, and will get even strong when #2 Carly Bates returns to the line-up.
Next Race: Saturday, Sectionals, Busse Woods, Schaumburg, IL - The squad heads to the state qualifying meet, where they should easily beat the competition and advance to the next round.  With Laskowske leading the charge and a strong pack behind her, Palatine is really rolling now.
1. Amy Laskowske - 16:52
8. Katlin Millin - 17:52
9. Michelle Brunk - 17:55
12. Tory Wright - 18:10
13. Kaitlin Petersen - 18:12
16. Colleen Standridge - 18:14
22. Emma Maslanka - 18:28

5. Westfield, IN - Taking on the #3 team in the Midwest is never an easy task, and this proved so true for #5 Westfield.  From the start of the race, Westfield's top four runners ran stride for stride with Carmel's top girls, and even looked better than them over the final kilometer, but cross country is all about five runners not four, and even with the return of one of their top girls from injury, Westfield just didn't have enough on the day, as they lost to Carmel 63-75.  However, with an improvement out of their number five runner, Westfield can easily be right up there with Carmel.  Westfield looked very competitive up front, as they placed three runners in the top three, led by runner-up Kristina Krasich.  Maggie Bingham and Breanne Ehrman also finished in the top seven.  Kaitlyn Love was a solid fourth place for them as well, placing 13th.  Westfield's top four averaged a sweet 14:51.
Next Race: Saturday, State Meet, Terre Haute, Indiana - The day has finally arrived, the Indiana State Cross Country Meet is finally here.  With three top ranked teams going head to head one last time, the results should be fast and the race should be incredibly fun to watch.
2. Kristina Krasich - 14:41
4. Maggie Bingham - 14:47
7. Breanne Ehrman - 14:51
13. Kaitlyn Love - 15:03
49. Katlin Luter - 15:51
57. Heather Beard - 15:59
85. Annie Monardo - 16:32

6. Okemos, MI - Okemos competed in their conference meet and easily won as they prepare for next weekend's regional qualifiers.  Okemos ran in the CAAC Division I Conference Meet (5k).  Results still forthcoming.
Next Race: Saturday, Regionals - Okemos will travel to their regional to face off against some good teams, but should qualify easily for the state meet the following week.

7. Massillon Jackson, OH - With two weeks remaining in the Ohio season, Jackson starts to really gear up towards the biggest meet of the season for them, the state meet.  They had a great warm-up race at Malone College, where they easily outdistanced the competition, beating their nearest competitor by 48 points.  Jackson looked very tough up front, as they placed their top four in the top eight, with their fifth running to a 13th place finish.  It was a very fine effort on the 5k course.  Sophomore sensation Emily Pritt led the way for her team, winning the individual title in 19:24, winning by 24 seconds.  Sophomore teammate Hallie Busta and senior teammate Nicole Fairless also finished in the top five, as they earned the fourth and fifth spot, but dipping just under twenty minutes.
Next Race: Saturday, Northeast District - The road to the state meet keeps on rolling for the number one team in Ohio.  Jackson will take on a slew of team and should advance to the state meet rather easily.
1. Emily Pritt - 19:24
4. Hallie Busta - 19:56
5. Nicole Fairless - 19:57
8. Krista Kohler - 20:21
13. Amanda Farson - 20:46
20. Rachel Reed - 21:12
29. Molly McDonough - 21:47

8. Bowling Green, OH - Bowling Green easily won their district meet, as they placed 1,3,5,6,7,13,14, to score a mere 22 points, easily outdistacing second place Toledo Whitmer by 62 points.  BG placed their top five girls in the top seven spots, as they were led by race winner Christy Titus, who continues to impress, as she ran the hilly 5k spread in 18:50.  Titus was followed by junior teammate Barbara Powers, who finished third and sophomore sister Shanon Titus who finished fifth.  However, the younger Titus was further back from Powers than she has in the past few weeks.  They need her to stay close to Powers as the more important meets draw near.
Next Race: Saturday, Northwest District - This is the meet that advances Ohio athletes to state.  BG should win this race easily and coast into state riding a large wave of momentum.
1. Christy Titus - 18:50
3. Barbara Powers - 19:06
5. Shannon Titus - 19:51
6. Andrea Pereira de Almeida - 19:57
7. Anne-Marie Simon - 19:58
13. Paige Lane - 20:35
14. Taylor Worthington - 20:36

9. Mason, OH - Mason turned it up a notch this weekend, as they competed in their district meet at Voice of America Park (5k).  As usual, Mason looked very strong, as they averaged 19:17 for their top five runners, and place their top six runners in the top 15 spots of the meet.  Mason beat runner-up Cincinnati McAuley by 31 points, 43-74.  Mason's front runner Angela Bizzarri took home the individual title, running a strong race and winning by five seconds in a very impressive 18:03.  Mason then placed Kelsey Flaherty sixth in 19:23 and freshman Emily Staresinic nith in 19:33 to have three runners in the top ten.
Next Meet: Saturday, Southwest District - Mason will go toe-to-toe with perviously ranked squads of Loveland and Cincinnati Colerain.  This will be the best match-up Ohio has to offer next weekend, the week before their state meet.
1. Angela Bizzarri - 18:03
6. Kelsey Flaherty - 19:23
9. Emily Staresinic - 19:33
13. Danielle Terreri - 19:42
14. Stephanie Chaney - 19:43
15. Katie Chaney - 19:44
30. Maggie Chaney - 20:32

10. Indianapolis Cathedral, IN - Despite competing in the hardest semi-state hands down in Indiana, Cathedral looked very good against some mighty competition and should head into the Indiana state meet next weekend with some positive energy.  Cathedral looked very good up front with freshman sensation Katy Achtien leading the way with a third place finish.  After Achtien, Cathedral placed three more in the top twenty, as they scored 89 points, finishing only behind MW #3 Carmel (63 points) and MW #5 Westfield (75 points).
Next Race: Saturday, State Meet, Terre Haute, Indiana - The day has finally arrived, the Indiana State Cross Country Meet is finally here.  With three top ranked teams going head to head one last time, the results should be fast and the race should be incredibly fun to watch.
