Preview - Oklahoma State Meet - Top 10 Scoreboard

Favorites win in Texas districts. SO#10 Jenks OK falls to unranked Edmond Memorial in Oklahoma state meet. Mustang OK soph Kevin Schwab finishes season unbeaten in OK state meet.

Oklahoma held its 3A, 4A and 5A State meet at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.

Texas had District meets with the top 3 teams and top 10 individuals advancing to next Saturday’s four Region meets.

#1 The Woodlands TX
won District 14-5A on Thursday with 19 points. Managed a 45 sec 1-5 spread running without usual #5 man.

waged a hard fought battle at District 8-5A. Flower Mound captured the title 51-55 over Marcus. Plano sr Scott MacPherson, #2 National Foot Locker returner and defending state champ, kept his unbeaten streak alive. He was all alone splitting 4:30 and 9:31 on the way to 15:03 for 5000m.

was 2nd in the State 5A meet in Tulsa to rival Edmond Memorial by a score of 53-76. It was close through these team’s top 3, but Edmond Memorial’s 4th and 5th runners made the difference. These schools have won every state title since 1979 except for Moore’s title in 1997. Mustang soph Kevin Schwab remains unbeaten with his 5A win in 15:55.

Brother Martin New Orleans LA won its home invite with 32 points. They were led by the 1-2 finish of sr Patrick Aucoin and sr Mark Buchert.

Rogers AR won its Mountaineer Invite with 24 points and a 16:58 average for 5K. Van Buren's Aaron Batey was the individual champ in 16:21.

GIRLS

#1 Kingwood TX
won the District 22-5A title over local rival Humble 20-66. Kingwood placed 2-3-4-5-6-7-8 with a 41 second 1-5 spread over 3200 meters. The individual winner was defending state champ Westfield soph Nichole Jones in 11:03.

Sr Brittney Alberto (#12 Foot Locker South returner) finished closer to the big 2 this week after missing most of the early-season action.

dominated the 5A Division 1 Championship meet on Saturday at Tupelo High School. With only Columbus and Starkville competing, the girls took the first nine finishing spots. Tupelo soph Emily Crow led the girls with a time of 15:51 for 4K. This was a low-key tune-up for next week’s State meet.

At the Oklahoma 5A State meet Union jr Ina Ables ran 11:42 to win the individual title over 3200m. The Mustang girls defended their state title 55-70 over runner-up Edmond North who beat them last week at West Region meet. Mustang was led by sr Danielle Zanotti, 2nd in 11:57, and 4th placer jr Katy Grant in 12:07.


Preview

The Oklahoma state meet for 3A, 4A and 5A is this Saturday in Tulsa. The 5A girls race features West Region winner Edmond North, Mustang, Edmond Memorial, East Region champ Union, Jenks and Norman. The top girls include West Region titlest Erin Watson of Edmond North, top returner Mustang jr Katy Grant, #2 returner Mustang sr Danielle Zanotti, #3 returner Moore's Adelaide Simms, and East Region victor Union's Ina Ables. The boys 5A division should be another battle between SO#10 Jenks and Edmond Memorial - these two teams have won every state title since 1979. Mustang will also be a contender. The individual favorite is Mustang soph Kevin Schwab who is undefeated with several course records and was 3rd as a freshman. His competitors include Jenks sr Dan Maxwell, Owasso soph Kendall Robbins, and Edmond Memorial sr Jordan Powell.

Arkansas has conference meets and Rogers hosts the Mountie Invitational.

Brother Martin LA hosts an invitational in New Orleans.

Mississippi has Division meets this week and teams are gearing up for State on 11/6.

Most Texas schools will be running District meets this week.
