12/23-DVGTCA Meet #4 @ Lehigh University -
Emerging talent is making their mark on the PA indoor season. But it's
the expected dominance of the West Catholic girls that keeps shining
through at every meet. What is considered one of the best teams in the
country, the Burrs easily captured the 4x200 and 4x400, going 1:47.4
and 4:05.4, respectively. After missing last weekend's meet, Nicole
Leach ran 25.6 to win the 200. One of the newcomers making waves
continues to be frosh Ryann Krais of Methacton. She ran a season PR of
58.8 in the 400, and beat William Tennent sophomore Kayla Hennessy by
.1, taking the 55 Hurdles in 8.6 seconds. Now in high school following
a stellar youth career, Clarenchell Tate of Simon Gratz beat vet
Janessa Murphy of Great Valley in the 55 dash, going 7.0. In the field,
the Shot Put is looking deep again this year, as four girls cracked the
35-foot barrier. North Penn's Angela Pasquale was quite a bit over that
mark, throwing 37-03, the same as 2nd place Penncrest freshman Karen
Shump. Saquenda Dallas, a sophomore at Girls' High, triple-jumped
36-05.75.
12/23-TFCAGP #4 D1 @ Ursinus College
Another returning high jumper got into thinner air in his first start,
as St. Joseph's Prep senior Juan Cave cleared 6-08. Pennridge pole
vaulter Scott Sherwood cleared 13-06 for the win. In the DMR, two PCL
teams pushed each other, with LaSalle getting the nod over Cardinal
O'Hara by three seconds, taking the win in 11:01.7. And Downingtown
West hurdler Brett Owens went 7.7 for the 55 meter variety.
12/23-TFCAGP #4 D2 @ Ursinus College
Great Valley's boys posted a strong 10:56.1 win the DMR, almost 20
seconds ahead of the next team. The 200 is stacking up to be a strong
suit for PA boys this year. Conwell-Egan's Jeff McClenton ran 22.8 for
the win, followed closely by Penncrest's Andrew McCloskey in 23.2, and
Penn Charter's Kamal Marrell in 3rd at 23.4.
