US#2 York blitzes strong sectional (4 of top 10 teams in state) with 1-2-3 leadership. Eric MacTaggart 14:56 sets course record at East Aurora. Katelyn Bastert 16:34 3m.

IL BOYS

East Aurora sectional at Waubonsee College
Eric MacTaggart's first-place finish in 14:55.3 set a new course record
(14:55.3) and gave Glenbard South the team title. Wheaton Warrenville
South's Jon Popejoy and the Tigers finished second, 27 points behind
Glenbard South.

Bremen sectional at Midlothian Meadows Forest Preserve
Brothers Dan and Joe Curran (second and fifth, respectively) paced
Naperville North to the sectional team title with 57 points. Matt Withrow of
Andrew garnered individual honors with the top-time of 14:32. Neuqua Valley,
Lincoln-Way Central, Sandburg and Lockport all qualified for the state
tournament.

Niles West sectional
York's Sean McNamara, Mark Fruin and Matt Dettman finished 1-2-3 to give the
Dukes the sectional title with 21 total team points. Lyons finished second
with Ryan Kuphal and Brad Topal placing fourth and fifth, respectively.
"They (Kuphal and Topal) usually go out fast," Dettman said. "We let Sean
(McNamara) run with them and we tried to stay close in a pack."

IL GIRLS

East Aurora sectional at Waubonsee College
Streamwood's Paulina Garcia and Nancy Nieto finished first and third,
respectively. Garcia won in 17:18, followed by Amanda Laesch of Wheaton
North‹which earned top-team honors‹with a 17:56.

Bremen sectional at Midlothian Meadows Forest Preserve
Naperville North's Lisa Bonistalli won in 17:33 leading the Huskies to the
team title. "It was encouraging to win. It was a fast start but I just
stayed at my own pace," Bonistalli said. Sandburg‹led by Melanie Glaner and
Sarah Klaczynski‹finished second.

Niles West sectional
Lisa Bokios won the individual title in 17:34. "Last year I was beat by a
York girl," Bokios said. "Early in the race, seeing green in front of me
brought back memories and after the second mile I pulled ahead." Molly
Sullivan of York finished second while Benet won team honors with three
finishers Abby Higgins, Ruth Swedler and Abbey Hartman finishing in the top
ten.
