Philadelphia Area 12/18 weekend

by Don Rich

The girls took a break, while Division I and II boys competed in the
Philadelphia region this weekend, both on Saturday at Haverford College.

In Division I, Carl Dusen of Central Bucks East, posted the fasted 3000
time so far this season in 9:04.8. Dusen went throught he mile in 4:48
and controlled the pace the whole way. The DRM team of Cardinal O'Hara
(Rich Anderson, Pat Nash (1:57 open 800 last week), Bob Brown and Sean
Duffy (9:08 3000 last week), shattered the nine year old meet record of
10:45.6 set by their own school, with a 10:30.6 - a Nike qualifier by
almost 20 seconds). The 4x400 squad of Simon Gratz (Terrance Day, Munajj
Smith, Nimrod Speaks, and Richard Britt) hit a nice early season time of
1:33.8. The 400 was won in 53:0 by Coatesville's Sundfu Dorley. Tyrone
Diggs of Glen Mills set a new meet record (and qualifier) in the 60
meter dash with a 7.1.

In Division II (small schools), Penncrest's Orlando Greene clocked a
fast 53.3 400, nipping Jon King of Penn Wood (53.9) and Collin Raws of
Haverford School (54.6). The 60 meter dash was won in a Nike qualifier
7.1 by Brett Mandich of Harriton.

The next meet is the YES (Year-End Special) on Tuesday, December 28 at
Lehigh University for both boys and girls.
