Netters:
1/4/00--South Jersey teams again dominated the New Jersey trials for the Millrose Games suburban HS 1600 relays, held yesterday at Seton Hall University in South Orange, taking three of the four available places.

In the boys' event, Camden topped the field with a 3:21.9 (it has run 3:20.61 in an open race at the NY Armory this winter), with Lenape nailing the second position in 3:23.8. (The two ran separate sections in the boys' long-standing blind draw system). Both had also run in the 1999 Millrose meet.  Camden ran an all-underclass team of soph Maurice Young (51.3), J=junior James Williams (51.2), soph Jade Smith (49.5) and junior hurdle star Dwight Ruff (50.0). Mohamed Kanu anchored Lenape in 49.7.

The girls' event saw defending Millrose champ Willingboro fail to qualify for the first time in several years as it tied Pennsauken for 3rd. Two all-underclass teams qualified, Trenton edging Woodrow Wilson of Camden, 4:02.6 to 4:02.9. The fastest leg was a 58.6 anchor by Wilson junior Lisa Kassa, a granddaughter of 1968 Olympic Marathon winner Mamo Wolde.
