Marie Lawrence (Nevada HS'er), Kauren Tarver and Jordan Hasay (California HS'ers) and Aislinn Ryan (U. of Colorado) are among our picks to make the World Juniors Team for the United States this weekend!
Read the Predictions: BOYSOUR PREDICTED TOP TEN 1) Kenny Klotz (U. of Oregon) - Tremendously fit and very determined, he's the man to beat when he's on. Was 19th at NCAA West Regionals However, inconsistency has been his greatest challenge at times. Could win it... or not even make the team. 2) A.J. Acosta (U. of Oregon) - The smart money is on Acosta, whose considerable strength & stamina should be a nice match for Flatirons. If healthy, only a poor race plan derails him from Worlds. That won't happen. 3) Matt Tebo (Eldorado HS, NM) - Second to Acosta at both Arcadia and Nike Outdoors last year, Tebo won the FootLocker West Regional this school year as a senior, then placed 5th at nationals. Lives at altitude. 4) Jon Grey (U. of Oklahoma) - A late bloomer as a college frosh, Grey placed 44th at the NCAA Midweet Regional. 5) Dan Lewis (Villanova University) - A well-seasoned prep, Lewis placed 50th at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Reginoal. 6) Isaac Stoutenburgh (U. of Oregon) - Placed 35th for the Ducks at Pac-10s, has notable experience, but been inconsistent. 7) Brian Rhodes-Devey (Guilderland HS, NY) - A muddy strength course should suit Rhodes-Devey fine, and he's been pointing to this. 8) Josh Edmonds (Liberty College) - Placed 42nd as a frosh at the NCAA Southeast Regional. 9) Mikias Gelagle (Arizona State) - Placed 75th at NCAA West Regional but could surprise here. 10) Chris Vizcaino (Iona College) - Redshirted his frosh year; reportedly very fit with fine race recently. Dangerous sleepers: Noel Bateman, Elliot Heath, Kevin Schwab, Alex Crabill, Ryan McNiff, Matthew Herzl, Jake Matthews. 2007 JUNIOR MEN ENTRIES 30 Collegians, 36 High Schoolers; 4unknown THE "BIG TEN" AS PREPS The Ten Previous Past FootLocker Finalists Andrew Acosta - U. of Oregon - 2005 FootLocker XC Nat'l Champion; 9th at FL in 2004; U.S. Juniors 1500m champ in 2006 Noel Bateman - Iona College - 24th at FootLocker Nat'ls in 2005 Riley Booker - U of Washington - 19th at 2006 USATF XC Jr. Nat'ls; 30th at 2004 FootLocker Nat'ls Griff Graves - Abingdon HS, VA - 28th at 2006 Foot Locker Nat'ls Elliot Heath - Winona HS, MN - 33rd at 2006 FootLocker Nat'ls Joshua Hibbs - Iona College - 35th at 2005 FootLocker Nat'ls Kenny Klotz - U. of Oregon - 4th at 2005 FootLocker Nat'ls; 24th at 2004 FootLocker Nat'ls; Won 2005 Nike Team Nat'ls Brian Rhodes-Devey - Guilderland HS, NY - 25th at 2005 Foot Locker Nat'ls; 35th at 2006 Foot Locker Nat'ls Isaac Stoutenburgh - U. of Oregon - 28th at 2005 FootLocker Nat'ls Matthew Tebo - Eldorado HS, NM - 5th at 2006 FootLocker Nat'ls; 16th at 2005 Foot Locker Nat'ls OTHER COLLEGIANS: Marco Anzures - UCLA Brandon Birdsong-Johnson - U of Texas Alex Crabill - UCLA Seth DuBois - Cortland SUNY Joshua Edmonds - Liberty College - 42nd at NCAA Southeast Regional Mikias Gelagle - Arizona State University - 8th at 10,000m at 2006 USATF Track 7 Field Jr. Nat'ls; 75th at NCAA West Regional Jerry Greenlaw - Cortland SUNY Jon Grey - U of Oklahoma - 44th at NCAA Midwest Regional Matthew Grey - Slippery Rock U.
