HL#2 teams win -- Wayzata MN boys, Eden Prairie MN girls.  HL#1 teams finish 2nd and also qualify for nationals -- Bismarck ND boys,Roosevelt Sioux Falls SD girls.  Jakub Zivec MN and Ashlie Decker IA win individual titles, each pulling away in the last mile from the defending champions --Joash Osoro ND and Katie Flood IA.

Girls Championship
- Every Runner Counts - Eden Prairie and Roosevelt Sioux Falls overcome Dowling Catholic's 1-2 punch with better team balance.

Boys Championship - From JV to Nationals - Jakub Zivec of Grand Rapids MN came to the US from the Czech Republic this year.  Because he was not an official exchange student, the Minnesota association ruled him ineligible for varsity sports.  He ran in JV and open races, recording a sub-15 time for 5k.  Now he is going to NXN national finals.

It was a brisk 35-degree day that felt colder during the championship races as the sun disappeared behind clouds and the wind picked up.

 Jakub Zivec
Ashlie Decker

Defending champ Joash Osoro broke away from a 10-runner pack in the second mile, but Zivec went with him and took the lead with 1000 meters to go.
Decker and teammate Katie Flood, who won this race last year, ran side by side until Decker broke away in the last 300 meters.
