Just as their habit from coast to coast, the Throw 1 Deep club from Georgia thoroughly dominated the weight throw, only final of the Thursday night session. They brought nine girls and six boys, and all made the finals. They won both events with the national boys leader Wes Wright going 77-3 and US#2 Lauren Chambers hitting 58-10-5. The girls runner-up Patrice Gates set a national sophomore class record.

Throw 1 Deep

Much like the Girls’ weight throw, this event was dominated by Throw 1 Deep, a weight throwers club located in Marietta (Ga.), which took the top four places. Defending champion Wesley Wright from Villa Rica (Ga.) was the winner at 77-3, sophomore Andrew Dunkleberger of Whitfield Academy (Mableton, Ga.) was second at 59-0, sophomore Davis Freker was third at 57-10 and Braydon Anderson was fourth at 54-8. Mathew of Rocklin (Ca.) was fifth at 51-8 and Matt O’Farrell of Aspen Mountain (Rock Springs, Wy.) was sixth at 51-0. .

Throw 1 Deep, a weight throwers club located in Marietta (Ga.), dominated the competition taking the top five places. Junior Lauren Chambers of Kell (Murrieta, Ga.), the defending champion at 51-6, showed what difference a year can make by winning with a toss of 58-10 to improve her indoor best this year by two inches and rank No. 4 on the all-time list. Patrice Gates of Villa Rica (Ga.) finished second with a new national sophomore class record of 54-0 to break the old mark of 53-11 set by Melissa Kurzdorf of Lancaster (N.Y.) earlier this year. Allison Horner of Lovett (Marietta, Ga.) was third at 52-10, junior Caitlin Jordan was fourth at 46-6 ½ and junior Jazmi Miller was fifth at 46-4. Aslynn Halvorson of Butler (Charlotte, N.C.) was sixth with a personal best of 45-0.
