Boys -

In a match up of the top three jumpers in the nation, Terry Prentice of Southern California Cheetahs (Diamond Ranch, Ca.) improved on his nation-leading jump of 23-11 ½ with two jumps at 24-3. In addition he also had a 23-8 ¾ effort to give him four of the top five jumps in the nation. Ramon Crockett (McComb, Ms.), who had a seasons best of 23-10 ¾ was second at 23-4 ¾ and Brendan Ames (Central, Cheyenne, Wy.), who came in with a best of 23-9, was third at 23-3. Andre McDonald of Park Hill (Kansas City, Mo.), in one of his four scoring events, was fourth at 22-10 ¼.

Girls -

Sophomore Karyn Dunn of Southern California Cheetahs (Diamond Ranch, Pomona., Ca.), the national outdoor leader in 2006 with a 20-3 effort, fouled her first two attempts but came back with four jumps over 19-0 feet including a nation-leading 19-10 ¼. Dunn’s other fair jumps were19-3 ¾, 19-3 ½, and 19-6 ½. Junior Amber Purvis of James Logan (Union City, Ca.) was second at 19-1 ¼ and Ashton Baltimore of Mustangs (Marlborough, Los Angeles, Ca.) was third at 18-7. Purvis’s jump ranks her equal No. 4 in the nation.

Boys - Twenty-six jumpers have bettered 20-6 to advance. The top three indoor jumpers in the nation

will be in action. Terry Prentice of Diamond Ranch (Pomona, Ca.) is the leader at 23-11¼ and has done 24-5

outdoors. Ramon Crockett of McComb (Ms.) is No. 2 at 23-10 ½ and Brendan Ames of the Colorado Flyers

(Central, Cheyenne, Wy.) at 23-9. Emanuel Neizer of West Coast Heat (Rancho Cucamonga, Ca.) had a wind-

aided 24-5 in 2006.

Girls - Eighteen jumpers have bettered 16-6 to advance. Sophomore Karyn Dunn of Diamond Ranch (Pomona,

Ca.) was the national outdoor leader in 2006 at 20-3 and is the top qualifer.. Veshti Thomas of Cardinal

T.C. (Mt. Pleasant, San Jose, Ca.) is the only other jumper over 19-0 at a wind-aided 19-2. Eighth grader

Ciarra Brewer of James Logan T.C. (Union City, Ca.) jumped 18-11 wind aided and 18-7 as a seventh grader.

Sophomore Ashtyn Baltimore of Marlborough (Los Angeles, Ca.) has a best of 18-10 ¾.
