Class 5-6-7A Combined Meet
February 24, 2007

The Fayetteville Lady Bulldogs came from behind for a close win while the Forrest City Mustangs ran off with the Boys meet with an impressive running event show as the two teams took home the championship trophies from the Randal Tyson Track Center in winning the Arkansas Class 5-6-7A Combined State Indoor Track and Field Meet. The meet saw 282 marks that met the ArkansasTrackStats 2007 Best Indoor Performances List (Boys 151 and the Girls 131) plus 69 that met the Arkansas All-Time Best List (“ATB”) standard (32 Boys and 37 Girls). In addition, 25 marks met the DyeStat Elite standards.

Whitney Jones (Searcy) set four state indoor meet records (all DyeStat Elite marks) and scored 40 points with wins in the LJ (18’ 8.5”), TJ (38’ .25”), 55m (7.12 prelims) and 200m (25.30). Courtney Efurd (Rogers) won both the 800m (2:25.59) and 1600m (5:20.96) and took 2nd in the 3200m for 28 points while Mallory Lawrence (Russellville) scored 20 with 2nd in the PV and 3rds in the LJ and TJ.

In the PV, the records kept falling as Stephanie Foreman (Lake Hamilton) became the first Arkansas girl to vault over 13”, a record she set in the 2006 Class 5A outdoor state meet, with a 13’ .25” effort. Foreman also sailed over the prior indoor all-time best of 12’ 4” in setting a new indoor state meet record.

Spencer McCorkel (Bryant) took 2nd in the US with a vault of 17’ .75” (DyeStat Elite mark) to set a new state indoor meet record and the 2nd best ever indoor for an Arkansas boy behind his own mark of 2006.

Jeff Henderson (Sylvan Hills) set a new state indoor meet record with a win (and DyeStat Elite mark) in the LJ at 24’ 7.5” good enough for 2rd on the Arkansas All-Time Best List. Henderson also posted a DyeStat Elite mark at 6.41 in the 55m dash finals for 2nd on the Arkansas all-time list.

Robert Rolfe (Fayetteville, 46’ 4.5”) and Al Keaton (Little Rock Central, 45’ 4”) took 1-2 in the TJ with DyeStat Elite marks and for Rolfe, a new state indoor meet record. Rolfe’s effort is the 2nd best ever indoor for an Arkansas boy and 4th best overall.

Josh Brewer (Lake Hamilton) set a new state indoor meet record, met the DyeStat Elite mark and ran the best 3200m for an Arkansas boy since 2003. Brewer’s time of 9:30.43 moved him into 19th on the Arkansas All-Time Best List.

William Mitchell (Forrest City) tallied 30.5 points for high point honors with wins in the 200m/400m (22.34/49.99) double (both DyeStat Elite marks), 2nd in the 55m and a leg on the winning 4x4 team.
