BOYS
Clear Brook TX sr Maston Wallace cleared 16-6 on his 1st attempt, which was enough for the win over Aledo TX sr Joseph Farley, who also cleared 16-6.
Wallace was the US#1 indoor vaulter at 17-5, and took the Nike Indoor Nationals championship. Farley is the US#4 returnee and bronze medalist Magnolia TX sr Travis Matthews in the US#5 returnee.

GIRLS
Vandebilt Catholic LA jr Rachel Laurent won with fewer misses at 13-4 over Mansfield TX soph Shade Weygandt, duplicating their Nike Indoor National 1-2 finish. Both were unsuccessful at 13-8, which would have been a US soph class record for Weygandt.
Laurent is the US#3 returnee. Weygandt recently set the US soph indoor record at 13-6, and holds the US frosh outdoor record at 12-9.
Laurent and Weygandt broke the stadium record of 13-3 set by Britany Parker in 2005. Parker, a freshman competing for the University of Kansas, was watching closely and cheering from the front row.

- I was confident because the past couple weeks I’ve been trying 13 or 13-6 at small local meets, and have come very close to it. So my coach told me it’s time for a new PR. My old outdoor best was 13-3.

- The soph outdoor record is 13-5 something (13-5.75), so I was hoping to get that 13-8 today.
