First really big non-Armory meet starts Friday - Preview by John Nepolitan

Not all of the high quality indoor track in the Northeast is found in New York, and the Brown Invitational in Providence, RI is the first of major meets not at the Armory. The Brown meet is divided into pretty much four different sessions. Friday’s events, which feature Championship Distance Medley Relays and field events, are divided into sessions for boys (AM) and girls (PM). Saturday is completely running events and, once again, is divided into sessions for males and females. Highlighting Saturday’s events are a series of individual events, including a Millrose Games High School mile qualifier.

The Girls Championship Mile field may be the best of the meet. It features:
  • Sarah McCurdy (Bay Shore, NY) – 2007 NSIC 800 meter Champion
  • Sam Roecker (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, NY) – 2007 NTN NY Region Champion
  • Hannah Davidson (Saratoga Springs, NY) - 3 time Foot Locker Finalist.
  • Caitlin Lane (Greenwich Central School, NY) – Former Foot Locker Finalist, 2007 NY State Class “C” Cross Country Champion
Lane has already run 4:37 for 1500 meters indoors early this season and Davidson has run 4:40.

Some of the meet's other featured performers include:
  • Saratoga(NY) vs Burnt Hills(NY) in the Girls Championship DMR
  • Dennis Scruggs (Bellport HS, NY) – Invitational 500 m – Winner of the recent Bishop Loughlin Games 600 meters. Scruggs ran an impressive 1:20.28 from the 2nd heat to take the overall crown, then came back later in the meet to bring Bellport from behind to take the 4 x 200 relay.
  • Kyle Merber (Half Hollow Hills West, NY) – Invitational Mile - A 4:15 performer from 2007, Merber started his season with a strong showing at the Loughlin Games 1000, placing 2nd in 2:31.62 off a slow pace.
  • Andrew Judd (Conard, CT) – Invitational Mile – Foot Locker Finalist from his 10th at FL NE; 4th 2007 Connecticut Open Cross Country Championships
  • David Hurley (Chariho, RI) – 3000m – 2007 RI State Class “A” Cross Country Champion
  • Everett Hackett (Hall, CT) – 3000m – 5th 2007 Connecticut Open Cross Country Championships
