Last but not least, Shenendehowa NY dominated this division, winning easily 51-104 over a surprising second place finish by state rivals Shoreham-Wading River. Shen, ranked #2 in New York State, dropped a 13:04.9 average, the fourth best of the day behind North Penn, Oakton, and Danbury, but they would have beaten the Virginians in merged scoring.
Shenendehowa had all of its top five runners in the top 17, ranging from 12:50.4 to 13:14.1, resulting in a solid 24-second spread. Mike Danaher, ranked #7 in NY by Tullyrunners, finished third individually.
Behind the top two New York teams, Morris Hills came out on top in the battle of New Jersey, edging out their state archrivals from Christian Brothers Academy 119-123 for third place.
Kyle Merber (left) from Half-Hollow Hills, ranked #5 in New York, did not disappoint, easily winning the race in 12:36.6. Merber’s main goals for the remainder of the season are winning the Federation meet and qualifying for Footlocker finals.
