Event summary: In a surprising display, baton exchanges left plenty to be desired amost all around. Rancho Verde had difficulties in each of the first two exchanges, with Mt. Pleasant's Jeneba Tarmoh taking advantage tomotordown the backstretch and stake her team to a clear lead halfway through. Mt. Pleasant continued in first through the final curve, although Rancho Verde'sheer speed saw them begin to close the gap nicely. Mt. Pleasant has major problems on the final exchange, with the incoming runner blowing right past the anchor leg, with Rancho Verde gladly riping right by for the lead. Rancho Verde held on for the win and Mt. Pleasant was DQ'ed for a violation near the final exchange.

Event summary: Long Beach Polyhad a very good opening exchange, saw Bryshon Nellum purr down the backstretch to extend their early lead, took advantage of zone issues by their rivals.At the final exchange, JW North tried to draw near with Reggie Wyatt running on anchor but it would prove to be a moot point as CIF-SS Division I champ Isaiah Green was clutch for the Jackrabbits down the finalstraight to seal the win. This decision over JW North projects to be the most crucial showdown in the two-team battle for the state title.

Babcock wins! Another Cali girl at sub-4:40!!!
Woodbridge senior Christine Babcock, whose coach said the day before she was gunnnig for the National Federation record here, just missed it, running the #2 time in Nat'l Fed history with a 4:38.85 clokcking, just off Alex Kosinski's Babcock pushed the pace from the halfway point, bringing them across at 3:30.4 (after 68.8 and 2:19.8) through 1200m. Saugus' Shannon Murakami fought valiantly on the first curve of the last lap, but Babcock shifted into another geard on the backstretch to take control.

Event Summary:
Knight out in 28.5. Jett took over to bring acros at 59.7, then a big lead at 1:21.1 for the San Diego Section star. 2:02.9 for 800m with a 20m lead! Wow! At 1,000 meter Jett, looknig jetlagged a bit, but leading by 15 meters. At 1200m, Jett leads ta 3:08.1, leds bt 10.m/ At 1250 m, Hall with a HUGE move to blow by with Andrews chasing. Hall began to blow a a gasket at 1470m, with Andrews jumping inot the lead. The small lead pack started passing here, with Andrews off to the races. Jett fought gamely down the stretch and apeared destind for second, but was passed b a few others right at the finish. But this was Hudson Andrews' day!

Event summary: Vashti Thomas of Mt. Pleasant gained serious daylight on the field by the seventh hurdle, smoking down the straightaway and avoided hiccup en route to a stunning wind legal 13.03 (+2.0 mps) that registered as the #2 all-time legalmark in the nation! Event summary: Diamond Ranch senior Terry Prentice took over by the fourth hurdle, overcoming a great start by who appeared to be Rashad Smith of Pinole Valley. Wind was 2.3mps, so over the allowable, but a technicaly smooth race by Prentice, who achieved his fastest time under any conditions. Prentice won the long jump showdown against El Camino's Nelson Rosario and Co., netting two state crowns for the USC-bound star!

Event Summary: Mr. Nellum took care of business from the outset, smoothfully but forcefully tearing around the opening curve and the backstraight from Lane 5, pulling even with JW North's Nevin Gutteriez before the 200m split. As Nellum sped by the pressbox, the comments of just how smooth he looked. Careening through the final curve, there was no sign of fatigue, with the USC-bound dasher carrying his smooth gait down to the finish in a huge lifetime-best 45.54!

The speedy flash from the Central Coast Section, who was hampered by injury at season's outset, was out like a rocket. Tarmoh did not encounter problem, holding off another great race by the frosh runner-up Purvis.
