Here's a report on the top senior finishers form the 2006 State Meet
and how they did their first year in College

Nicole Blood - 1600 Meters - (Royal, Simi Valley - UNIVERSITY OF OREGON)
- Nicole, a senior year move-in from New York was sixth in the Pac 10 1500m with a 4:24.61 clocking, and she added a 16:27.41 5000m on the oval during the spring. She was the top finishing first year finisher in the 1500m event.

Kimyon Broom - 100 Meter Hurdles (Serra, Gardena - UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA/BERKELEY) - Broom was a Pac-10 finalist in the short hurdles as a frosh athlete at Cal, with a 13.74w best in the heats, and a ninth place finish in the very tough finals race. She had a wind-legal best of 13.77, was 12.20 in the flat 100, and ran on a 46.14 Bear one lap relay squad.

Keshia Baker - 400 Meters (Fairfield - UNIVERSITY OF OREGON) - Baker was a Pac-10 Finalist at 400 meters with a 54.43 best. She added 24.92 (200) and 12.55 (100) bests during the year.

Elizabeth Olear - 100 Meters (Louisville, Woodland Hills - UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA) Olear had a seasonal best of 11.75 for the 100 meters, and was third in the big UCLA dual at that distance. She had 25.02 (200) and 56.72 (400) bests also during a reduced competitive schedule.

Lea Wallace - 800 Meters (Vintage, Napa - CAL POLY/SLO) Lea was the Big West Champ as a frosh in the two lap event, racing 2:09.56 there, and she added a 58.86 400m clocking this spring.
Tierra Ward - 300 Meter Hurdles - (Logan, Union City - UCLA) - Tierra ran the 100 hurdles her first year as a Bruin, with a 14.49 best and seventh from the big UCLA-USC meet in that event. She added a 12.48 best for the 100 meters on the flat.

Khrystal Carter - 200 Meters - (Valley Christian, San Jose - TEXAS A&M) - Carter was part of a super team at Texas A&M, racing 11.61 and 23.79 in the sprints and she competed as an individual in the Big 12 Conference Meet and the Midwest Regional. She also raced on a 43.80 short relay squad during the spring season.

Ariel Wright - 3200 Meters - (Bishop O'Dowd HS, Oakland - BROWN UNIVERSITY) - Ari had a good first year back east, with a 21st place in her NCAA Regional in Cross-Country, an excellent placing as the third frosh athlete in the contest. She added a 9:39.87 3k on the track during the indoor season, with a 16:59.74 during the undercover campaign. She appeared to take the spring off from racing.

Jasmine Day - High Jump (Costa Mesa HS - UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA) - Day was fourth in the Pac 10 this past spring as a first year athlete at 5-10, and she equalled that placing in the Western Regional with a 5-09.25 mark. Her seasonal best was a fine 5-10.75.

Tori Pena - Pole Vault (Edison, Huntington Beach - UCLA) - Tori had a spring best of 11-11.75 in a seventh place finish in the USC-UCLA Dual meet.

Tracey Stewart - Long Jump (Logan, Union City - UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA / BERKELEY) - Stewart had an indoor best of 19-00.75 in placing ninth in the MPSF Conference Meet.

Ashika Charan - Triple Jump (Claremont - TEXAS A&M) - Charan had a great first year for Coach Pat Henry’s Texas A&M group. She was just recently second in the NCAA Midwest Regional in the Triple Jump, out to 42-09.5, and was sixth in the Long Jump in that competition. She was the Big 12 runner-up also in the TJ, at 43-11.25w, and fifth there in the Long Jump. She won the Penn Relays title in the Long Jump, and had a seasonal best of 20-05.25 outdoors this spring. Indoors, Ashika was second in the Big 12 Long Jump at 20-06.25, with a fifth place there at 42-08.25

Erin Delaney - Shot Put (Paso Robles - STANFORD UNIVERSITY) - Erin was the top frosh Shot Putter in the Pac 10 this spring with a 46-09 best, and added a 132-08 in the Discus in April action.

Sarah Robles - Discus (San Jacinto - UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA) - Robles had a fine spring season, with an early April 166-08 in the Discus and was 49-01.5 in the Shot Put. She was third in the SEC Shot Put at 48-08, and with a 162-04 from the Mideast Regional she was the third frosh placer at eighth overall in the field.
