San Andreas League Championships

         The San Andreas League cross country finals took place at Blair Park, home course for the Cardinals of San Bernardino. The boys race was dominated by San Gorgonio High School, who took the league championship for the third consecutive year. The Spartans placed there top five in the first thirteen finishers and never looked back. However, individual honors belonged to Chris Cordova of Cajon who dominated all the leagues contests this year and was untouchable in the Finals just missing the course record by :03. The Cowboys finished second followed by Arroyo Valley, who will be making their first trip to C.I.F. Prelims in the school’s short history.

The Cowgirls of Cajon were up to the challenge on Saturday. After a close call against Pacific, in the second mini-meet, the Cowgirls made no mistake and placed their top four girls in the first seven finishers. Pacific qualified for C.I.F. for the first time in many years and were led by standout sophomore America Valdes, who won by twenty seconds over all comers. San Gorgonio finished third and will be the league’s third entry into the C.I.F. Prelims.
