Boys 1600m Re

Heat 1 - Dorsey led off probably with Gettis 47.9, then 49.5, with a 52.7 leg putting the field back in the race, with Pinole Valley Osaisai 49.2 to move into lead on leg #3. Dorsey anchored with Kai Kelly 48.3, but it was Serra (Gardena) who moved to the win down the homestretch. Mid-47's anchor probably for Serra. Los Alamitos 50.5 - 50.9 - 50.2 and 48.3 (Ahlstrom).

Heat 2 - LB Poly a couple of seconds on the clock coming in! Mission Viejo led early at 49.3, with Poly close behind at 49.4 on the opener. MV continued to lead through leg 2, with Poly moving ahead just ahead at the baton pass at 49.6. Poly charged down the backstretch, with MV moving ahead into the homestretch. Poly 51.3 on leg 3, with MV close to 50 on that segment with a narrow lead. Rodney Van anchored Poly, with the two teams battling down the homestretch. Stride for stride they raced, with Mission Viejo edging in ahead with a 47.6 Van anchor and Mission Viejo's Chase Frazier 48.4 for the win. MV 3:17.96, LB Poly 3:18.18.

Heat 3 - Looked like good Taft/Canyon (CC) battle. 50.1 for Canyon in the lead, with Taft 51.3 back a bit. Elk Grove leading through leg 2 a bit, with Canyon and Taft moving up to challenge. Canyon led at end of leg 2. Canyon 50.3 actually stretched the lead. Canyon 50.6 stretched the lead to 20m at the exchange with Elk Grove second. Canyon 48.5 on the anchor. mid 3:19's win for the Cowboys.

Girls 1600m Re

Heat 1 - LB Wilson nine seconds ahead on the clock entering at 3:41.57. Myra Hasson put Gardena into a big lead (Wilson 56.8), with LB Wilson moving up strongly on leg #2 for the lead. 56.9 on leg #2 for Wilson, with leg #3 58.7 edging Wilson farther ahead. Wilson closed with a 57.4 and a narrow win over Fairfield (54.4 for Keisha Baker on the anchor). 3:49.72 - 3:49.92 for the first two.

Heat 2 - Rancho Cucamonga from SS 3:42.04 far ahead on the watch here. 58.1 leadoff for RC the leaders. Muir in second and North Riverside running third. Muir within 5m at the 200 and challenged down the stretch on leg #2. 58.1 on leg 2 for RC (consistent) with Muir moving ahead during the first part of leg #3. Muir had good third leg from K. Profit, and moved ahead by 30m ahead during the anchor, stretching the margin to the tape to win at 3:50.63 to the mid 3:53's for North and Rancho Cucamonga. Muir 60.5 - 55.5 - 57.1 - 57.5.

Heat 3 - LB Poly and Merrill West (originally entered in heat 4) - West was 57.4 for the lead thru leg 1, with LB Poly 59.1. Lead stretched for M. West on leg #2, with Poly into the homestretch 20m down, but closing by finish. West led by three with its 59.2 second leg. Poly moved into the lead at the start of leg #3, with 8m by the 200m mark. Poly took the lead during a third leg in the mid 57's, with Brittany Daniels anchoring with for West, and we believe Jasmine Lee for Poly (55.7 on the anchor), with 55.3 for Daniels and her squad in second. Poly was 3:49.97 for the win.

Heat 4 - 56.9 for Logan on the opener, 54.3 for Deonna Lawrence on leg 2 to put Sheldon in the lead. Logan was 57.5 on leg #2. Sheldon leg by 8m at the 200m point of leg #3. 57.3 for leg #3 for Logan pu them into a comfortable lead, which was stretched to 35m at the 200m mark of the anchor leg. 55.7 for Dudley on the anchor for Logan 3:46.99 with the fastest of the day!
