So this is what I know, the course has been running since 1994 for OAL school, 1987 for the other leagues. In its heyday 1995 or so Piedmont, O'Dowd and Encinal were in the same league and usually had league finals here.
In the boys Tom Phelps is at Cal Poly SLO, Daniel Gohlke went to Davis I think, ran about 13th in State meet maybe, Alex Teekell went to and ran a bit for Stanford, Gordon Johnson was 1989 State Meet and Golden West 800m Champ. State JC Champ at Merritt, and went to Oregon where he ran a 3:55+ Mile. Later, Alex Enscoe ran I think 18:46 last year in a meet. Course is a bit slower than it was -- maybe 12 seconds or so due to some speed bump type rises to get the water to run off the upper section.
For SoCal dudes, there is one section that is steep, that when you're running it you can touch the ground in front of you and still stand. I lined that portion with flour and the flour ran downhill like water and just spread out. That's when I fell over and that was that, one arrow was enough! They brought in goats in last summer to eat the underbrush for fire prevention and the handler told me that they wouldn't go down there it was to steep for the goats!
