4A Girls: Erica Whipple sprint double - freshman Lauren Austin 54.67 - Andrea Austin 800/1600 double - Tiffany Ross' 5-way performance for team champion Miami Northwestern:

Erica Whipple - 100-200

Erica made it four for four, winning the 100/200 at the Florida state meet all four years in high school, with seemingly effortless 11.51 and 23.36 clockings into a headwind. Spectators were speaking "Olympics" in the same sentence with Whipple's name. But first, she moves to the college scene next year at women's powerhouse South Carolina as part of Coach Curtis Frye's nearly successful effort to corner the market of 2001 HS girl sprinters.

Tiffany Ross - 5 events

Tiffany Ross, another South Carolina recruit, was everywhere in support of Miami Northwestern's runaway team title, from the first race of the Saturday evening program (a smiling winner in the 100 meter hurdles below left) to the last race (anchoring the 4x400 relay below right). Apart from that, Tiffany won the 300 meter hurdles and long jump and was second in the triple jump.

Andrea Austin - distance double

Boyd Anderson star started her state meet career by winning as a freshman, and ended it with a fine double.
Andrea followed up her 4:58.41 win in the 1600 with a sparkling 2:10.45 in the 800 (below),
one of the top 10 times in the US this year.
