Princeton Relaysby Don Rich, publisher of DyeStatPA Detailed Results - DyeStat Elite Performances (73) William Penn girls had a spectacular day at the annual Princeton Relays, taking home championships in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay, a new US # 2 in the 4 x 200; a second, new US #2 in the 4 x 400, and a third in the 4 x 800. And it was a good day for Baldwin, east AND west. Baldwin School's Julia Pudlin solidified her claim on a spot in the prestigious Millrose Mile with a first place finish of 4:49.32, and Baldwin High School's Dan Mazzacco, took the boys' mile with a Dyestat Elite 4:26.08. Julia Pudlin was nervous before the race, but took it out like she meant it. The result was never in doubt. Let't hope we see her in the prestigious Millrose Mile. William Penn's Juanita Broaddus (25.5), Gorgeous Harper (25.9), Christina Wright (25.9) and Christina Smith (24.6), took over US # 2 with their winning 4 x 200 of 1:41.8. Gratz was third in 1:45.5. Chester, Abington and Nazareth also ran below the Dyestat Elite standard. William Penn's 3:49.98 was less than a half-second off Boys'&Girls' US # 1 3:49.61. O'Hara came within a whisker of taking US#1 DMR with a 10:32.33 effort. Baldwin's Dan Mazzacco ran a 4:17 split to close on Sean Duffy. Baldwin's 10:32.49 wins them a spot in either national championship meet. Great Valley broke a 25 year old school record with a third place 10:38.99. CB East was fourth in 10:40.44. All are Dyestat Elite or better. On the girls side, Nazareth Academy's Maureen McCandless ran a strong anchor to bring her team back to a thirdy place, NIC 12:30.27. Prendie was fourth, Pennsbury fith, St. Hubert's eighth, and Cardinal O'Hara tenth. Wissahickon was ninth after a PR by Paige Miller, with a 5:05 anchor. William Penn also took the Shuttle Relay with their 31.8 4 x 55 meters. In the High Jump, Penncrest's Caitlin Redding tied for US#1 with her 5-8 second place. Great Valley's Jen Williams jumped a Dyestat Elite 5-4. Chester's Farren Benson moved up to US # 3 in the Triple Jump by taking first with here 37-7. Sam Segond, East Sroudsburg, took over US # 8, and PA # 1 with his 55-6. In the Long Jump, Terrance Day, Simon Gratz, a new US # 3 with his jump of 23-4. Dyestat Elite performances was turned in by CB East's Steve Smith at 22-4.. In the girls pole vault, Jackie Rogers, Baldwin, won with a jump of 10-6. Michelle Ezzie, Upper Darby, was third at the same height, and Phoenixville's Anne Kolter, and Penncrest's Sarah Berkowitz, went 10-0. All vaults were NSI qualifiers. In the boys 4 x 200, Simon Gratz took US # 8 with a second place in 1:31.36. Tennent was sixth and O'Hara was seventh, both with Dyestat Elite times. In the Long Jump, Neshaminy's Christin Mallor finished third with a Dyestat Elite 17-3. In the 4 x 800, William Penn finished third with an NSI/NIC 9:38.9. Upper Darby, Wissahickon and St. Hubert's all ran Dyestat Elite times. In the girls Shot Put, North Penn's Jess Johnson won with a Dyestat Elite 39-1.
