WILSON GIRLS, BALLOU BOYS WIN DCIAA CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS!

fr Sheena Willis leads Wilson girls

The Woodrow Wilson girls cross-country team won their fifth straight championship in impressive fashion on Saturday. The team had five runners in the top ten places as they overwhelmed the competition. Freshman Sheena Willis led the tigers with her first place finish and senior captain, LiNida Blake finished second. Coach Ron Jenkins was pleased with the effort of all of his runners and gave a special congratulations to LiNida for the leadership that she has provided for the team, both in word and deed.

In the boys race, Ballou senior, Ricardo Iracks captured his third city cross country title in 17:50 as he led the knights to the championship. Iracks has dominated the D.C. cross-country scene since his sophomore year. The Ballou team last won the cross-country championship in 1997. This marks the first championship by third year coach Tyrone Bryan. Iracks was assisted in this victory by transfer James Marshall who finished second and a host of others.
