Cross Country
Leader List 11/7

now 1561 marks from 292 meets

Boys 5k - Boys 3 Mile - Girls 5k - Girls 3 Mile

We have said that cross country times are not comparable, and the Leader Lists are not rankings.   But inexorably the cream rises to the top.  Defending Foot Locker national champion Dathan Ritzenhein, who says he feels 20 seconds faster this year, has five of the six fastest 5k times.  Virginia's Alan Webb, who also seems re-energized this fall, has two of the three fastest 3-mile times.  Glendale CA sr Anita Siraki, who crafted a pound them into submission style in becoming the national 2-mile champion last spring, has the two fastest girls 3-mile times.  And that doesn't even include Alicia Craig, easy winner of the Great American Cross Country Festival last month, who lurks 4th on the girls 5k list.  Looking ahead to Foot Locker national finals next month, it is hard to imagine these four anywhere but up front when the elite fields pound toward the finish line at Disney World.

The Michigan State Meet pumped 105 new marks into the 5k lists, spurring hot debate on the DyeStat message board on whether the course was short.  Katie Boyles' 17:17 victory over the Rockford girls put her in 2nd place behind Julia Pudlin and in front of Alicia Craig.  Her Adams Rochester MI teammate Shannon Stanley 17:32 took 4th on the list.
