4A Highlights

The Campbell Country girls dominated as expected by winning with 18 points, the lowest point total in the history of the state meet. Paced by the nation's leading HS female runner, Alicia Craig (18:205k, 68 second margini), they placed six in the top 10 and seven in the top 13. The Achilles heel that plagued them at the GACCF (52 seconds from #4 to #5) has apparently been rectified.  Coach Orville Hess's squad lodged a claim for consideration as the #1 team in the US with a 19:25 average at 5300ft altitude.

The Campbell County boys joined the more celebrated girls team by by annihilating US#17 ranked Rock Springs 26 to 66.  Laramie, also considered a contender, was 3rd with 80 points. The Campbell County boys averaged 16:32.3 at 5300ft and placed 5 in the top ten, six in the top 12. This team is a top ten team in the US when considering the only team that has beaten Rock Springs was the number one team, Mountain View (check out the score between Mt. View and Rock Springs at the Orem Inv.:32-64). This team may very well be a top five team. It was a very impressive performance as the Camels had six runners finish before Rock Springs' #3.
