Andy Kleinjan(10th @ state meet last year) of Sioux Valley led his team
to the title by taking individual honors in 16:54. Kleinjan
pulled away from Deuel's Pat Shea(3rd) in the last part of the race to win
by five seconds. In a tight the team race Sioux Valley nipped Deuel and
Redfield.

Matt Nipe of Madison(5th) led from start to finish to lead
his team to a Region 2A team Championship. Placing four
out of the top five individuals Madison easily outdistanced
second place Flandreau for the team title.

and went on win over Sara Nelson(6th) of Dell Rapids by 30 seconds. The
race for the team title was a lot closer. Defending State 'A' champions
from Garrretson were upset by McCook Central in a race that was
decided
by the pusher.

Mary Bennett of Scotland out dueled Michelle Rasmussen of Vermillion in the final 300 meters to take individual honors. In the team race Lennox upset #1 ranked Vermillion. Placing 6 girls in the top 15 Lennox used its depth to overtake the top ranked team in the state
