Region 1A

Boys

Andy Kleinjan(10th @ state meet last year) of Sioux Valley led his team to the title by taking individual honors in 16:54. Kleinjan
pulled away from Deuel's Pat Shea(3rd) in the last part of the race to win by five seconds. In a tight the team race Sioux Valley nipped Deuel and Redfield.

Shannon Daly(6th in Class B) of Groton cruised to victory defeating last years state 'A' runner-up and highest returnee Drew Neuharth of Britton by 37 seconds. It was Britton girls team that won the Region 1A championship by six points over Milbank.

Boys

Matt Nipe of Madison(5th) led from start to finish to lead
his team to a Region 2A team Championship. Placing four
out of the top five individuals Madison easily outdistanced
second place Flandreau for the team title.

Girls

Kari Schaefer(17th) of Madison took the lead for good at the mile mark and went on win over Sara Nelson(6th) of Dell Rapids by 30 seconds. The race for the team title was a lot closer. Defending State 'A' champions from Garrretson were upset by McCook Central in a race that was decided 
by the pusher.

Led by defending Class A state champion Eric Dehner, Vermillion defended its 3A title. By placing 3 in the top 5 Vermillion outdistanced Dakota Valley by 18 points

Mary Bennett of Scotland out dueled Michelle Rasmussen of Vermillion in the final 300 meters to take individual honors. In the team race Lennox upset #1 ranked Vermillion. Placing 6 girls in the top 15 Lennox used its depth to overtake the top ranked team in the state

TJ Sandersen(2nd) of Chamberlain continued his dominate ways by cruising to the victory. On a fast course TJ beat John Cook of
Cheyenne Eagle-Butte by 9 seconds. In the team race it was CEB easily defeating the field
